Today we begin something extraordinary!

Terri Codlin has committed a $50,000 matching gift to Hillside Montessori. From now through September 14, every gift to the campaign will be matched dollar for dollar.

Dr. Montessori wrote of the elementary child: "The secret of good teaching is to regard the child's intelligence as a fertile field in which seeds may be sown, to grow under the heat of flaming imagination. Our Lower Elementary community visited the Coca-Cola Space Science Center as an expansion from their study of the First Great Lesson: Coming of the Universe. These students further explored the planets that make up our solar system. While at the space center, the students were able to locate planets in the sky in real time using a special program, created planet masks, and viewed a planetarium show where they learned more interesting facts about the different planets.

Physics took flight yesterday!

Our Adolescent Community visited to bring our study of Newton’s Laws of Motion to life. Students experienced gravity, air resistance, force, and motion firsthand, and learned very quickly how even the smallest change in body position can affect movement.

Even better was watching the community support one another. They cheered each other on, encouraged friends who were nervous, celebrated every flight, and stepped outside their comfort zones together.
