Prairie Thrifted Treasures, our student-run thrift store, has had a great start to the new school year! We’ve had lots of great donations and many students are enjoying their new-to-them outfits! Due to the generosity of our community, we currently have more clothes than we can display. In addition, many of the display racks we have are borrowed and we need to return them soon. If you are interested in helping us purchase more racks, please visit our Amazon list. It is set up to allow people to contribute a partial amount if they are not able to purchase a rack outright. Prairie Thrifted Treasures, the student thrift store at PHHS, is gearing up for a great new school year! We will be opening in a much larger space which will allow us to offer an even better experience for our student shoppers. As we prepare for the new year, we want to share some ways people can help if they are interested.

We especially need clothes for guys of all sizes. (We are very happy to continue to accept clothes for girls, but we have a much better stock of options for female students.)

We have established an Amazon gift list for people who wish to help but may not currently have clothes to donate. We have added the option of purchasing new socks and men’s T-shirts as that has been a need we have noticed this year. (We know the math doesn’t really add up as they will be sold at a “loss” but we’re looking to fill needs rather than make profits.)

We could use some clear plastic storage totes to help us organize our off-season items. Clear works best as it is easiest for the student helpers. Please keep in mind we don’t have a great way to wash out totes, so it would help if they are clean as well as in good condition.

Donations can be dropped off at Door 1 at your convenience. Someone will check there fairly frequently, but please try to make sure things are tucked away from the weather if possible.

The community has been incredibly supportive and our students have benefitted from the generosity shown by everyone who has donated! Thank you!

On Tuesday, July 21 at 6:00 PM, Lakeland School Corporation, Westview School Corporation, and Prairie Heights Community Schools will celebrate the launch of the Learn to Work Program, a first-of-its-kind partnership with local manufacturers and community organizations. Together, we're creating new opportunities for students while helping meet the workforce needs of our region.
The Learn to Work Program prepares students for careers in manufacturing and industrial electrical maintenance through hands-on learning, industry partnerships, dual credit opportunities, and industry-recognized credentials. Students will gain real-world experience while developing the skills needed for high-demand careers right here in LaGrange County.
Join us at Lakeland Intermediate School for our Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to tour the new facility, explore the equipment, meet our education and industry partners, and learn more about the opportunities this program will provide for students across the county.
