We are so grateful to Roger’s BBQ for feeding our LCMS cheerleaders before tonight’s football game! 🏈📣 Nothing gets our girls game-day ready quite like a delicious meal and support from our amazing community!

🍿🧪 Science never tasted so good! 🧪🍿

Our 8th-grade science students put their learning into action with a fun Popcorn Lab! After learning how thermal energy transfers through conduction, convection, and radiation, students got to see each type of heat transfer in action using a microwave, air popper, and Jiffy Pop on a hot plate.

The best part? They got to taste the results! 🍿😋 We love seeing hands-on learning come to life at LCMS! 💙💛

💙💛 WE ARE WEDNESDAYS | Meet the Faces of LCMS! 💛💙

We’re kicking off a new weekly feature—We Are Wednesdays! Each Wednesday, we’ll spotlight the people, places, and things that make Long Cane Middle School such a special place to learn, work, and belong.

And who better to start with than the ladies who are often the very first faces you see and the first voices you hear at LCMS—our amazing secretaries! ☎️🏫

They answer the phones, welcome our families, help our students, solve problems, keep us organized, and somehow manage to know a little bit about EVERYTHING happening in our building. Most importantly, they make sure everyone who walks through our doors feels welcomed and cared for. 💛

We are thankful for all they do—both the things everyone sees and the countless things happening behind the scenes.

They are the front door, the first hello, and such an important part of who we are.

💙💛 We are LCMS. We are Cougars. And this is We Are Wednesday! 🐾

A big thank you to our amazing Communities in Schools Coordinator, Kari Burch, for joining us in the afternoon car rider line today! Kari had a little fun passing out our “Chew on This” flyers and sharing an important reminder with our families — every day at school matters! 🏫❤️

We love having community partners who show up, pitch in, and help us remind our Cougars just how important it is to BE HERE! 🐾

🎻 Making Music at LCMS! 🎶

Mrs. Ledbetter’s 8th grade orchestra students are already making great music! Students have been working on glissandi and tremolo techniques while practicing “Skeleton Shimmy.” 🎼

We love seeing our students learning new skills, challenging themselves, and making beautiful music together. What a great start to the year for our LCMS Orchestra! 💙💛

What a great day to be a Cougar! When we say we love our school, we mean it from the bottom of our hearts! Hundreds of students stayed after to cheer on our teams today - both softball and football got a WIN!!! We had a BAND at the game! Our cheerleaders have the most perfect school spirit and our coaches created an after school pep rally to get spirits high before the games. Our Long Cane village was loud and proud today! 💛🐾💛

Cougar Parents, here are 3 important and time sensitive reminders!

- Tomorrow is the last day to order PTO t-shirts!
- We are checking Chromebooks tomorrow and beginning some diagnostic testing. PLEASE bring charged Chromebooks. If it needs repair, bring it!!! We’re begging!!!
- We have a home football game and a home softball game tomorrow. Students can stay after with signed/written permission, $5, and a ride home at 6:15. We cannot take cards or tap but you can pre-buy tickets on GoFan or have cash at the gate. Games start at 5:00 and there will be concessions available.
