Congratulations to the 2026 National History Day Georgia Teachers of the Year!

In our Senior Division, we are honored to recognize Dr. Yi'sheika Lawrence, from Georgia College Early College in Baldwin County. As one of Dr. Lawrence's students wrote: "My teacher goes out of her way to make everything possible for her students, even the things people said weren’t possible: she shows us that history doesn’t have to boring when you have someone passionate about it helping you find your niche."

In our Junior Division, we are honored to recognize Dr. Katie Baker-Johnson, from Hilsman Middle School in Clarke County. Her student shared: "Dr. Johnson works tirelessly to ensure all students at Hilsman are pushed to their limits in National History Day and just in general. She works many extra hours after school to watch our performances, giving students a chance to obtain higher goals through learning history."

We thank Dr. Lawrence, Dr. Baker-Johnson, and all of our NHDGA teachers for all that they do for our Georgia students.
