Moment #7 – April 19, 2024 – Honor’s Day - Callaway Auditorium. Back to April’s moments! Assistant Professor Kelton Hunt, Professor Austin Wieland (back), Professors Don and Sharon Livingston, and Professor Gretta Milam (back).

Moment #5 - April 19, 2024 - Undergraduate Research Symposium - Main Floor of the Frank & Laura Lewis Library. I had THREE amazing moments in one day! The third one will be posted later this afternoon.

Seniors presented their research projects during this well attended event. 'Shout out' to Political Science Professor John Tures for directing this program.

Moment #4 - April 19, 2024 - Wilkinson Family Servant Colloquium - Dickson Assembly Room in Turner Hall. The senior cohort presented their community service projects. I loved hearing what each student took away from their involvement with the area youth. Big thanks to Assistant Professor Jeff Lukken for directing this program.

Moment #3 – April 13, 2024 – Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Probate Show in Callaway Auditorium. Five students were able to pledge the re-chartered chapter of Sigma Eta on the LaGrange College Campus. It is the first time that an African American sorority has had a chapter on the LaGrange College campus in over 20 years.

Moment #2 - April 11, 2024 - Beason Hall in the West Side Bldg - I attended the viewing of Jesse Stephen Freeman's Rock & Chisel documentary about artist Steffen Thomas. Below, left to right, is Film & Media Arts Assistant Professor Yson DeBlois, Lisa Conner, and Mr. Freeman.

There were so many memorable moments here on campus just in the month of April 2024 alone. My next few posts will highlight just a few of the moments that I just happened to witness. These moments are not necessarily in date order. Here we go: Moment #1 - April 3, 2024 - Dickson Assembly Room in Turner Hall - Nikkovia Sweet and my last Staff Forum meeting as President and Vice President. New Officers for 2024 - 2026 Christy Vanhoose - President, Jennifer Booker - Vice President, and Lindy Oller - Secretary.

The recent (April 2024), and maybe first, Beginning Genealogy Day in the Suber Archives revealed some very interesting information for my guests, Dr. Amanda Plumlee, Lindy Oller, and Dean Hartman! I even received some great family history news that was delivered personally by LC Alum Mary Hamby Hall from a knowledgeable source .

Women's History Month: Mrs. Verona Brown Hill was the first African American to graduate from LaGrange College in 1969. Sadly, Mrs. Hill passed away on February 21, 2024. We will continue to call her name here and admire her bravery.

Student Government Association's (SGA) Multicultural Affairs Committee sponsored a very successful program this morning, "The History of Black Greek-Life at LaGrange College." Our panelists were Reverend Chalton Askew, Mrs. Taryl Anderson, and Mr. Eddie Montgomery. Speaker was Felecia T. Moore.

The Global Nursing Vision Program, a collaboration of Jesus University, Jeonju-si, Korea and LaGrange College, Georgia, USA. Students were on the LaGrange College campus from January 26, 2024 to February 8, 2024, to gain theoretical and practical knowledge in the nursing field. These gifts were presented to President Baxter on February 5, 2024. Stop by to take a look!!
