Last week LaGrange College chemistry seminar speaker was a special researcher, our own Hank Barnes. Hank is a graduate of LaGrange College and is currently in the Chemistry Ph.D. program at Auburn University. These photos are from his research lecture last week and when he was a student here at LaGrange College.
Hank was awarded the 2017 Waights G. Henry, Jr. Leadership Award, the most prestigious award given to a student by LaGrange College.

Thanks to Dr. Christian Goldsmith, Associate Professor of Chemistry at Auburn University, for sharing his research with our chemistry department. His group prepares ligands with redox-active phenol and quinol complexed to Mn(II) ions. These Mn(II) complexes can act as sensors for H2O2 in conjunction with a MRI scanner. It is very interesting research Dr. Goldsmith and thanks again for your presentation.

Congratulations to Holston Sebaugh on your published work with Dr. Ludwick in Modern Physics Letters A! It is entitled "Deriving the Dark Matter-Dark Energy Interaction Term in the Continuity Equation from the Boltzmann Equation". He also did a great job presenting his work at an American Physical Society conference during the pandemic lockdown.
