Old Firehouse School OFS

Old Firehouse School OFS With 5 campuses in the Bay Area, OFS adheres to the caregiving model, with highly-skilled educators teaching a Reggio Emilia-inspired curriculum.

https://linktr.ee/OldFirehouseSchool Our program is based on a solid foundation of scientific theory, research and professional practice in the field of child development. Our teachers are highly skilled professionals who understand child development and respect children as individuals. Their concern is wide and deep, for they care about “the whole child”: heart, mind, spirit and body. We at the O

ld Firehouse believe in honoring and nurturing individual relationships with each child and family. We work hard to establish these relationships, and harder still to maintain them. We believe children learn best from concrete experiences, and thus we provide many hands on activities. We expect children in our programs to be busy “doing” not “watching” or “listening”.

Our garden continues to thrive! After the weekend, we had a lot of cherry tomatoes ready for picking. The children have learned to only pick ones that are ripe and pointed out to me which ones were orange and not yet ready. They are learning so much about gardening and nutritious eating through this experience, and also helping educate their peers about taking care of our garden. We’ve had such a bountiful summer!

We all enjoyed the sensory experience of these textures! It not only felt interesting, it encouraged many descriptive language conversations!
