Hey! We know her!

💙🐻💛

For Mrs. Withers, it was never about just a jacket. It was the hard work, the breaking out of her shell and the chance to share her knowledge!

Carencro Built Her.

For Amber Withers, Carencro wasn’t just where she went to school—it was where she discovered her passion, found mentors who believed in her, and built the confidence to pursue a life of service through agriculture education.

As a student, Amber immersed herself in both 4-H and FFA, organizations that helped shape her leadership skills and opened doors she never imagined possible. Through livestock judging, public speaking, and countless leadership opportunities, she learned that growth often begins just outside your comfort zone.

Two educators left a lasting mark on her journey.

Amber credits Mr. Dwayne Martin, her agriculture teacher, as a mentor who became much more than an instructor. He encouraged her to pursue opportunities across the state, invested countless hours helping her prepare for competitions and workshops, and provided the kind of guidance that felt like having a second father.

She also remembers Mrs. Delcambre for fostering her love of reading and research. Through her English classes, Amber discovered the power of words and learned that education is about more than gaining knowledge—it’s about developing compassion, empathy, and understanding for others.

One of Amber’s favorite memories was winning the Louisiana FFA State Sheep Entrepreneurship Award. She and Mr. Martin spent countless hours perfecting her application, making the achievement even more meaningful because of the dedication and belief they shared in the process.

Today, Amber has come full circle and now serves as an Agriculture Teacher at Carencro High School, pouring back into the same community that helped shape her.

Her advice to current students is simple but powerful:

“Fear means you’re about to do something brave. Join the club you’re nervous to sign up for. Ask the questions that seem trivial. So many doors opened for me when I said yes to opportunities in college, and I wish I would have said yes more often in high school.”

When asked to finish the sentence, “Carencro built me by…” Amber shared:

“Providing a place for me to thrive and grow in agriculture education.”

One Standard. One Culture. One Carencro.

For Katie Guillory, Carencro High School was more than the place where she earned her diploma—it was where she found community, discovered her passion, and built friendships that still mean the world to her today.

Whether she was competing in the pool, playing softball, or serving as manager for the boys soccer team, Katie embraced every opportunity to be involved. The moments she remembers most aren’t tied to a scoreboard, though—they’re the pep rallies, the school spirit, and the feeling of being part of something bigger than herself.

Katie credits Coach Eldridge as someone who made a lasting impact during her time at Carencro. Through her guidance and support, she helped shape the person Katie would become long after graduation.

Today, Katie serves as an Assistant Strength Coach at LSU, helping student-athletes reach their full potential while continuing the cycle of encouragement and mentorship that helped shape her own journey.

Her advice to current students is simple but powerful:

“Be kind to EVERYONE because you never know what someone is battling internally.”

When asked to finish the sentence, “Carencro built me by…” Katie answered:

“Starting my journey to becoming a Louisianimal.”

One Standard. One Culture. One Carencro.

Paul is a former Carencro 4-H member!

🍀💙🐻💛

Some lessons stay with you long after graduation. For Paul Coussan, the confidence and opportunities he found at Carencro High School became the foundation for a career dedicated to service and leadership.

As a student, Paul immersed himself in school life through 4-H, Beta Club, National Honor Society, Key Club, and FBLA, experiences that helped develop his leadership skills, work ethic, and commitment to serving others.

Paul credits Ms. Pat Delcambre as one of the educators who made a lasting impact on his life. Through her encouragement, mentorship, and belief in her students, she helped instill the confidence to pursue opportunities and embrace new challenges.

Today, Paul serves as Vice President of Government Relations for the National Park Foundation, where he continues to build on the lessons he learned as a Bear.

When asked what advice he would give current students, Paul shared:

“Never leave a stone unturned and pursue every opportunity.”

To finish the sentence, “Carencro built me by…”, Paul answered:

“Giving me the opportunities, confidence, and foundation to succeed in life.”

One Standard. One Culture. One Carencro.

For Phyllis Chiasson, Carencro High School was more than a place to earn a diploma—it was where she learned to see the world through a broader lens.

Coming from a private school background, Carencro introduced her to people, perspectives, and experiences she had never encountered before. It was a place that challenged her to think differently, embrace new ideas, and develop a sense of community that would stay with her long after graduation.

Today, that journey has come full circle.

As an English teacher at Carencro High School, Phyllis now walks the same halls that helped shape her own future. Every day, she strives to give her students the same encouragement and support she once received from teachers who left a lasting mark on her life.

Among those educators were Mrs. Olivia Pass and Ms. Sara Moss. Mrs. Pass inspired a lifelong love of language and literature while showing students that they were valued and capable of more than they realized. Ms. Moss challenged students to think creatively, embrace originality, and keep an open mind. Their influence helped shape not only the teacher Phyllis would become, but the person she is today.

Some of her fondest memories aren’t tied to a classroom at all. They live in the energy of Friday nights, the excitement of football season, and the victory dances that brought students together after the games. Those moments created a sense of belonging and school pride that still makes her smile decades later.

Her advice to today’s students is simple but powerful: keep your mind open. Growth often comes from challenging old ideas, embracing new perspectives, and being willing to learn from the people around you. The world is constantly changing, and the ability to think, adapt, and form your own opinions will always be one of your greatest strengths.

When asked to finish the sentence, “Carencro built me by…” Phyllis reflected on something much bigger than academics.

She credits Carencro with introducing her to the diversity of people and ideas that exist in the real world while instilling a deep sense of community and pride. In fact, those experiences influenced her own decision years later to send her children to Carencro High School as well.

Because sometimes the greatest lesson a school can teach isn’t found in a textbook. Sometimes it’s learning how to understand people, embrace differences, and become part of something larger than yourself.

ONE STANDARD. ONE CULTURE. ONE CARENCRO.

One of our favorite friends and supporters!!

For Keith “Poppa” Arsement, Carencro High School provided the foundation for a lifetime of leadership, service, and community involvement. Through athletics, academics, and the relationships he built as a Bear, Keith developed values that have remained with him throughout his life and career.

As a student, Keith was actively involved in football, baseball, basketball, and track. He earned four varsity letters, was a member of Key Club and Beta Club, and was the first quarterback to play in Carencro High School’s new campus in 1971.

He credits Ms. Mamer as one of the most influential educators in his Carencro journey. Through her business classes, she taught lessons that helped shape his understanding of leadership and success while preparing him for life beyond high school.

Today, Keith is a local business owner who continues to serve and invest in the community he proudly calls home.

His favorite memory from Carencro was the Homecoming prank of 1973 when members of the senior class placed school benches on the roof in the shape of “73.” To keep everyone guessing, students sent weekly riddles to the office with clues about the benches’ location.

His advice to current students:

“Be proud to be from Carencro and strive to be a mentor to those classmates who follow you.”

When asked to finish the sentence “Carencro built me by…” Keith answered:

“Teaching me that a small town can become family. I was raised by a community of people who believed in showing up, giving back, and taking care of one another. Those values are what make Carencro so special, and they are what will keep it the hometown we all know and love.”

One Standard. One Culture. One Carencro.
