Last week we celebrated Mr. Ricky Landry (TCHS '74) for over 35 years of service to our Rebel family as an athletic trainer. Both he and his son proudly wore #10 for the Rebels. Thank you, Mr. Ricky, for your dedication, heart, and Rebel spirit!
Honoring a Rebel Legend: Mr. Ricky Landry!
Last week at the football game, we were so honored to recognize one of our absolute favorite Rebels, Mr. Ricky Landry! We have been blessed to have him as part of our Rebel family for over 35 years, and as anyone in Rebel Nation knows, to know him is to truly love him!
Number 10 holds a special place in the Landry family history, as both Mr. Ricky and his son proudly wore #10 for the Rebels! 🏈❤️

"Ricky Landry’s career is a true reflection of lifelong service to Teurlings Catholic School, the athletes, and the entire Acadiana community, as his work has exemplified the profound value athletic trainers bring to clinical and outreach healthcare environments.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from USL in 1978. After spending more than a decade in private business, Ricky chose a path driven by purpose, returning to graduate school to pursue a Master of Science in Sports Medicine from the United States Sports Academy, which he completed in 1989.
From 1989 to 1991, Ricky served as a Graduate Assistant at LSU, where he earned certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer in February 1991. Following his graduate assistantship, he joined the Physical Therapy Clinic of Lafayette, where he helped lay the foundation for outreach athletic training in Acadiana by starting athletic training services to Teurlings Catholic High School and St. Thomas More High School.
Ricky further expanded his expertise by earning licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in 1993, uniquely positioning himself at the intersection of rehabilitation and athletic training. Even while working as a PTA, Ricky never stepped away from his commitment to athletics—continuing daily coverage of Teurlings Catholic athletics, a testament to his loyalty and dedication to student-athletes.
In 1998, he became part-owner of Acadiana Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine, growing it into a model outreach program serving multiple school systems and communities, including Lafayette Parish School System, St. Martin Parish School System, and Teurlings Catholic High School. Through this outreach model, Ricky, along with his partner John Roy, played a critical role in exposing communities, parents, administrators, and athletes to the many benefits of having athletic trainers embedded in school-based settings.
When APT was acquired by MTS-LGH Therapy Services in May 2021, it ensured that Ricky’s vision and legacy of sports medicine outreach would continue to serve Acadiana. Ricky remained as a steadfast presence at Teurlings Catholic until June 2026 as part of Ochsner Lafayette General Sports Medicine, continuing to provide athletic training services with the same passion and professionalism he has demonstrated for decades.
Ricky Landry has made an impact beyond job titles and credentials. He has educated generations of athletes and families, mentored young professionals, and consistently represented Teurlings Catholic High School with integrity, humility, and excellence. His career has been a living example of how to serve a school and community the right way."
