Tomorrow, February 23, SoAD will be hosting Ninoslav Krgovic at 12 Pm in Room 134, for his lecture on Designing for Complexity.
When it comes to designing and building public projects and museums of tomorrow, some of the recurring themes that come up are accessibility, flexibility, openness, and sustainability. At the same time, design and construction processes of these projects are incredibly complex - from ownership structures, ambitious delivery schedules, complicated design requirements, to the often blurred lines between design and construction phases. I will draw on my experiences as the project architect of New Museum (New York, NY) and Calder Museum (Philadelphia, PA) to discuss how we as designers can help with and plan for these processes, in design, construction, and finally, use.
