Honoring Juneteenth π¦
πβ€οΈ
Today, Early College Academy celebrates Juneteenth β a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and the continued pursuit of equality and justice for all. β¨
Juneteenth is observed each year on June 19 and marks the day in 1865 when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, and informed enslaved Black Americans that they were free β more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed by President Abraham Lincoln. ππΊπΈ
This important day reminds us not only of our nationβs history but also of the strength, perseverance, and contributions of Black Americans throughout history and today. In 2021, Juneteenth became a federal holiday, recognizing its significance nationwide. β€οΈπ€π
At Early College Academy, we believe education plays a powerful role in building understanding, promoting unity, and preparing future leaders to create positive change in their communities and beyond. ππ
As we honor Juneteenth, let us continue learning from the past while working together toward a brighter and more inclusive future for all. β¨πΊπΈ

πΊπΈβ€οΈπ€π Happy Flag Day! ππ€β€οΈπΊπΈ
Today, the Early College Academy honors the symbol of our nation β the American flag β and the values of freedom, unity, courage, and opportunity that it represents. βπ¦
Flag Day is celebrated each year on June 14th because on this day in 1777, the Second Continental Congress officially adopted the Stars and Stripes as the flag of the United States. πΊπΈβ¨ President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the first national Flag Day in 1916, and in 1949, Congress officially established June 14th as National Flag Day. πβ
As we celebrate Flag Day, we also recognize the importance of education, leadership, and service to our communities and country. At ECA, we are proud to help prepare future leaders who will continue to make a positive impact both locally and beyond. β€οΈππ¦
Let us all take a moment today to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy and the responsibility we share in building a brighter future together. πΊπΈβ¨

π¬πΏ Happy National Movie Night! πΏπ¬
Lights, camera, action! π Today we celebrate National Movie Night β a day dedicated to enjoying films, spending time with family and friends, and appreciating the magic of storytelling through movies. π₯β¨
Movie nights have been a popular form of entertainment for generations, dating back to the early 1900s when communities gathered at local theaters to experience silent films together. As technology evolved, movie nights became a favorite tradition at home, bringing people together to laugh, learn, and create memories. π½οΈβ€οΈ
Movies do more than entertain β they inspire creativity, teach valuable lessons, and allow us to explore different cultures, perspectives, and ideas. At Early College Academy, we encourage students to think critically, communicate creatively, and appreciate the power of storytelling in all forms. ππβ€οΈππ¦
Looking for ways to celebrate National Movie Night? Here are a few fun ideas! π
πΏ Watch a favorite classic or discover a new film
π₯ Host a family or friends movie marathon
π« Make movie snacks like popcorn, candy, or nachos
π Dress up as your favorite movie character
π Discuss the movieβs message, themes, or lessons afterward
Looking for family-friendly movies that are both fun and educational? Try these! π¬β¨
π Finding Nemo β teamwork, perseverance, and family
π Hidden Figures β history, STEM, and determination
π§ Inside Out β emotional awareness and communication
π Wall-E β environmental responsibility and compassion

ππ Happy National Higher Education Day from Early College Academy! ππ
Today, we proudly celebrate the power of higher education and the incredible opportunities it offers our students through our partnership with South Louisiana Community College πππ¦.
Did you know? National Higher Education Day was established in 2015 to encourage students to pursue college degrees and to raise awareness about making higher education more accessible and affordable. The day highlights the importance of educational opportunities that prepare students for successful futures.
β€οΈππ¦
At Early College Academy, our students experience the benefits of higher education every single day! Because ECA is housed on the SoLAcc campus, our students are immersed in a true college environment while still in high school. Through dual enrollment courses, our students graduate not only with their high school diplomas, but also with associateβs degrees β giving them a head start on college and career success! ππ©βππ¨βπ
We are grateful for our strong partnership with South Louisiana Community College and for the dedicated faculty and staff who help make these opportunities possible. Together, we are empowering students to dream bigger, achieve more, and build brighter futures! π
