The Louisiana Business Emergency Operations Center (LABEOC) is a joint partnership between the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP), Louisiana Economic Development, and the Informatics Research Institute at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Disaster Recovery Center in Terrebonne Parish to Temporarily Close for One Day on Aug. 15

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Disaster Recovery Center in Terrebonne Parish will temporarily close for a community event on Saturday, Aug. 15. It will re-open Monday, Aug. 17, at 9 a.m.

Homeowners and renters impacted by Tropical Storm Arthur from June 17-24 in Avoyelles, Lafourche, Pointe Coupee, St. Landry, St. Tammany and Terrebonne parishes can visit any Disaster Recovery Center. The centers provide help applying for FEMA assistance.

Assistance is available at the following locations and dates:

Pointe Coupee Parish Library/Innis Branch

Dates: Monday - Saturday Weekly
Hours: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Terrebonne Parish Main Library
151 Library Dr.

Carmen Smith from GOHSEP and Jim Williams, the Public-Private Partnership Officer at the NIMSAT Institute, kicked off the Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Academy course today with Practical Exercises, Tabletop Exercises (TTX), After-Action Reviews (AAR), and Improvement Plans.

This course offers hands-on training in key techniques for evaluating and improving performance in dynamic operational environments. By the end of the course, participants will have a well-rounded skill set in assessing performance, enhancing team coordination, and driving continuous improvement in both tactical and strategic contexts.

The session continues tomorrow after a networking breakfast provided by the Louisiana Emergency Preparedness Association.
