Future engineers spent a week getting hands-on with the world of advanced manufacturing at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's College of Engineering, hosted by the Institute for Materials Research and Innovation. Middle school campers designed parts with CAD software, programmed robotic arms, explored 3D printing and CNC machining, built and tested fiberglass pickleball paddles, experimented with casting techniques, and toured cutting-edge research and manufacturing facilities across campus.

From solving design challenges to seeing ideas come to life, they discovered that engineering is all about creativity, innovation and learning by doing. We loved sharing our labs, faculty and students with the next generation of problem-solvers. We can't wait to see where their curiosity takes them!

Your degree should prepare you for a lifetime of opportunitiesโ€”not just your first job.

That's why our Flexible Degree Paths model allows students to build a strong engineering foundation while customizing their education with optional concentrations aligned with workforce needs, gaining both the broad skills employers value and specialized expertise in the fields they're passionate about.

The result? A versatile degree that prepares our graduates for today's opportunities and gives them the flexibility to adapt to tomorrow's challenges.

Careers evolve. Industries transform. New technologies emerge. Your engineering education should prepare you to evolve with them.

That's engineering education designed for the future. Build around your passions. Prepare for what's next. Link in comments.

Our new Construction Management program is gaining strong momentum and industry support, providing students with hands-on learning, real-world experience, industry connections, and pathways to high-demand careers in one of Louisianaโ€™s fastest-growing industries.

That momentum was recently reinforced when the Louisiana Construction Education Trust Fund (LCETF) presented a gift in support of the Construction Management program in the College of Engineering. We are grateful for LCETFโ€™s generous support and commitment to helping prepare the next generation of construction professionals.

We are so proud of our incredible Mechanical Engineering students for once again bringing a national championship home! Congratulations to Andrew, Jude, Brendan, Logan, and Kaiden on earning Grand Champion honors at the National Fluid Power Vehicle Challenge.

This achievement reflects the talent, innovation, teamwork, and determination of our students and faculty. Designing and building a hydraulic-powered vehicle from scratch, and competing against top universities across the nation, is an awesome accomplishment.

Momentum like never before!

The Spring 2026 Dean's Advisory Council (DAC) meeting centered on the theme "Momentum Like Never Before: Engineering as the Growth Engine Advancing Louisiana Vision 2035," the meeting highlighted the College of Engineeringโ€™s sustained progress over the past six years across enrollment, research, academic innovation, and workforce development. This momentum aligns with the direction set by our new President, Dr. Ramesh Kolluru through his vision for the University "Louisiana Vision 2035." Dr. Geoffrey Stewart, Assistant Vice President for Innovation and Economic Development, joined the meeting to share an overview of the Universityโ€™s strategic priorities.

Dean Ahmed Khattab highlighted the Collegeโ€™s alignment with the University's Vision 2035, sharing both short- and long-term strategic priorities and engaging the board in discussion on how they can support and advance these efforts.

The day also included a gathering at the historic Roy House, bringing together students, alumni, and leadership for meaningful connection.

Momentum like never before!
