Ms. McMahon’s ELA classes kicked off their animal classification unit by stepping into the shoes of zoologists for the day! 🦁🦉🐢

Our young zoologists carefully observed animals and recorded their findings. They then shared their observations with the class while their classmates asked thoughtful questions about their discoveries. 📚✨

We loved seeing our students use their observation, communication, and questioning skills as they explored the fascinating world of animals! 🐯🔍

🌊🌪️ 3rd Grade Scientists Turned Engineers! 🧪🏗️

Our 3rd grade scientists are wrapping up Module 1: Weather with an exciting engineering challenge! 🌦️ Students put their knowledge to the test as they designed and built seawalls to help stop storm surge and protect communities from weather hazards. 🌊🏠

Along the way, they answered our phenomenon question: “How can people design better solutions to reduce the impact of weather hazards?” 🤔💡

From planning and building to testing and improving, our young engineers discovered that great solutions often take a little creativity, teamwork, and a LOT of problem-solving! 👷‍♀️👷‍♂️🔨✨

Our 3rd graders have officially received their guitars and are ready to make some music! 🎶 They are learning the basics of guitar, from how to properly hold their instruments to learning chords, strings, and the foundations they’ll need to become confident young musicians.

🎹🌟 Kindergarten Piano: Where the Musical Journey Begins! 🌟🎹

Kindergarten is the perfect age to spark a child’s natural curiosity and love for music! At 5 and 6 years old, our youngest musicians learn best through play, movement, singing, and hands-on discovery. 🎶💕

This week, our kindergarten pianists had so much fun exploring the keyboard while building important foundational skills!

🎹 Identifying groups of 2 and 3 black keys
📏 Learning the correct distance to sit from the piano — no stretching or “T-Rex arms” here! 🦖😂
👏 Copying and creating simple rhythms
🔊 Exploring loud and soft sounds** and discovering musical dynamics
👂 Developing listening skills and steady beat awareness
🙌 Building fine motor skills, coordination, and confidence

Every lesson is an opportunity to explore, experiment, and make a new musical connection. Watching these little musicians discover what they can do at the piano is such a joy! 🥰🎼

We are so excited to see where their musical journey takes them! 🌟🎹
