📣Professional Update
I’m excited to announce that I’ve recently completed my EMDR Basic Training and am now a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator!
I look forward to sharing these two powerful approaches that deepen how I support clients and families:
🧠 EMDR Basic Training — an evidence-based approach that helps people heal from trauma, stress, and distressing life experiences by supporting the brain’s natural ability to process and integrate.
👩👧👦Certified Positive Discipline Educator — training that equips me to teach and guide parents using Positive Discipline tools, which emphasize connection, respect, and encouragement rather than punishment or control.
💬 If you’re curious about EMDR, need parenting support, or want to join a group, send me a message or text/call me at 337-458-9500 to learn more or join the interest list for upcoming parent groups.

A Simple Practice to “Get G.L.A.D”
Did you know our brains naturally focus more on what’s wrong than what’s right?
That’s called the negativity bias — a built-in survival mechanism that helps us stay alert to danger, but it can also leave us feeling anxious or discouraged.
The G.L.A.D. technique helps balance that bias by retraining your brain to notice the good, the growth, and the joy in everyday life.
✨ G – Grateful: What’s one thing you’re thankful for today?
✨ L – Learned: What did you learn about yourself or the world?
✨ A – Accomplished: What’s something you got done (big or small)?
✨ D – Delight: What moment brought you joy?
Practicing G.L.A.D. daily builds emotional resilience and a more realistic outlook — not ignoring the hard things, but remembering they aren’t the only things.
The G.L.A.D. technique was developed by Donald Altman as a way to develop a more positive/balanced attitude towards life. Practicing this technique has gently nudged me to notice and name the beautiful moments around me, which neuroscience shows helps us remember and savor them more deeply.
Try ending your day with G.L.A.D. as a journal prompt, quiet reflection, or sharing it around the dinner table (or in the car--my favorite). Let me know how it works for you and if you'd like a PDF version that I use with groups with more information and guidance!
