LPSS school spirit was on display at Cajun Field! During the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Homecoming game, our Paint the Town Red winners were featured on the Cajun Field video board, celebrating the creativity and school pride they brought to this community tradition.

Congratulations again to Green T. Lindon Elementary School, Youngsville Middle School, Martial F. Billeaud Elementary, Dr. Raphael A. Baranco Elementary School, Katharine Drexel Early Childhood Education Center and Early College Academy! Our Spanish Immersion students took center stage at Lafayette’s Latin Music Festival, bringing language, culture and learning to life through a variety of performances. Students from Charles M. Burke Elementary, Live Oak Elementary School, Scott Middle School, and Lafayette High School represented our K-12 World Language Immersion pathway and the opportunities that grow with our students.

Superintendent Francis Touchet, Jr. was there to cheer on our performers, alongside families, educators and community supporters. Former LPSS Board Member and current State Representative Tehmi Chassion also joined the celebration in support of our students. Thank you to Lafayette World Language & Immersion and our educators for creating experiences that take learning beyond the classroom.

Opportunity was on display across LPSS today as L. Leo Judice Elementary School, Scott Middle School, and Lafayette High School welcomed families for our Magnet Academy Showcase on the Road events. Administrators, educators, and students worked together to show what makes these programs special and how our Magnet Academies become an integral part of each school community.

Homecoming season is in full swing across LPSS, and at Acadiana High School, even our safety team joined in the homecoming celebration! From school staff and administrators to the teams helping keep our events safe, it takes everyone working together to make these traditions possible.

Creating safe spaces for our students to celebrate, connect and make memories is part of building a strong school culture. Sometimes, that means joining the cheerleaders for a few counts.

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, students at Charles M. Burke Elementary, home of our Spanish Immersion Academy, gave their school community a preview today of the musical number they will perform tomorrow at the Latin Music Festival at Parc International in Downtown Lafayette. Through Spanish-language songs, colorful costumes and plenty of audience participation, students showcased the language skills and cultures they experience through immersion education.

Tomorrow, Lafayette World Language & Immersion students will take that learning beyond their campuses and onto the festival stage. Experiences like these give our students the opportunity to use their language skills, celebrate culture and connect with the greater Lafayette community. Today, we recognize National Manufacturing Day and the opportunities being built for our students. Recently, students from Northside High School and Lafayette High School stepped beyond the classroom to explore Acadiana’s manufacturing sector through hands-on experiences that connected their learning to real careers in our region.

We are grateful to One Acadiana and our regional manufacturers for opening their doors and helping our students see what is possible for their future, right here at home.

Falin Key, LPSS Director of Special Education, Assessment & Compliance, presented this week at the Louisiana School Boards Association 2026 Fall Trailblazer in Lafayette, providing an educational session for school board members and education leaders from across Louisiana.

When our leaders contribute to statewide learning, the impact extends beyond one presentation. It creates opportunities to exchange ideas, strengthen practices, and bring valuable perspectives back to the students and schools we serve. We are proud to see LPSS leadership represented in conversations that help move public education forward.

Yesterday, our LPSS Early Childhood participated in the Monsters on Main Parade in the City of Broussard, Louisiana. Cookie Monster was the star of the show, and our team took home 1st Place Walking Group!

Our Early Childhood team shared cookies with a sweet surprise on each bag: a ticket to register for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library of Lafayette Parish. We enjoyed seeing all of the wonderful families and little learners celebrating fall fun together!

Their work helps create safe, welcoming campuses that are ready for learning, opportunity, and growth.
