Every child in Lafayette Parish learns differently. Some need extra help with reading, others are ready for advanced math, but many need tailored support to thrive.

But creating differentiated, engaging lessons for 20–30 different learners per classroom takes time, time that LPSS teachers simply aren’t always given. When planning periods are cut or filled with coverage, burdensome paperwork and non-instructional duties teachers are forced into “survival mode” with lesson plans that might not hit the needs of every learner.

Our students deserve lessons tailored to their needs, and our teachers deserve the time to create them.

🚨When planning time disappears, teacher burnout rises.🚨

Across Lafayette Parish School System, educators are reaching a breaking point. Planning time is regularly squeezed out by last-minute coverage, burdensome paperwork, and meetings.

The result? Teachers working unpaid hours every single night just to keep up and talented educators leaving our parish entirely.

We cannot build the school system our students deserve on the backs of burnt-out teachers. Protected, dedicated planning time MUST become a priority.
