JHS band students and families - a great opportunity to keep playing over the summer!
Registration for the 2026 Purdue Summer Concert Band is open!
This ensemble is open to all area musicians that are high school-aged and up. Participation in the Summer Concert Band is free, and we’d love to have you join us!
Rehearsals will be Tuesday evenings from 6:00-8:00 PM on June 2, 9, 23, 30 and July 7, 14, & 21. All rehearsals will be held in Hagle Hall, Room 378. Members will have access to the University Street Garage free of charge after 5 PM.
Our concert will be held on Thursday, July 23rd, 6:30 PM at Columbian Park - Memorial Island Amphitheater immediately prior to a performance by the Lafayette Citizens Band.

Purdue students: You may elect to take Summer Concert Band for credit by enrolling in BAND 117 (and pay associated course fees), or you are welcome to join us and play for enjoyment. If you do choose to enroll for credit, grading requirements will include attendance at every rehearsal and the concert.

It is a BEAUTIFUL day in Lafayette and best of all, we’re all set and ready for the LSC Jazz Night this evening, 7:00pm with the preshow starting at 6:45pm. Food trucks and plenty of jazz to make this an evening out with your whole family!
Bring a lawn chair or grab a seat on a bench. Hope to see you there for the FINAL performance of the 25-26 LSC Bands!

Keller Concerto Competition winner- Aria Bakhit!
Aria Bakhit is 16 years old and a junior at Lafayette Jefferson High School. She has been playing cello for almost 6 years. Additionally, she has studied piano for 8 years and voice for 11 years. She is currently principal cellist for Lafayette Jefferson’s Cantabile Orchestra and is a member of Wabash Valley Youth Symphony. In 2024 and 2025, she was recognized as the Junior Strings Alternate for the State Hoosier Auditions.
Miss Bakhit has participated in the Ball State Honor Orchestra, the Indiana All-Regional High School Orchestra, the Indiana All-State Honor Choir, and the
Lafayette Children’s choir, both as a singer and cello accompanist. At Lafayette Jefferson, Miss Bakhit volunteers with the LSC Summer Orchestra Program and participates in Lafayette Jeff First Edition, Varsity Singers, Terpsichore, and Jazz Ensemble.
Miss Bakhit would like to thank her parents and family for endlessly supporting her in her passions and endeavors, Dr. Eric Edberg for coaching her through her cello journey and life, her school directors for all their guidance, Mrs. Gribble and Ms. Letcher for accompanying her at many performances, and most importantly God for providing her with the resources and talent to lead her to this stage.
Come hear Aria perform Gabriel Faure’s Elegie next Saturday April 11th at 7:30pm in the
