Some careers are built on ambition. Others are built on purpose. For Precious Jackson, Class of 2010, purpose has always come first.
Today, Precious serves as a Juvenile Prosecutor with the 15th Judicial District Court, advocating for young people, pursuing justice, and helping create brighter futures.
Long before law school and the courtroom, Precious developed her leadership skills at Carencro High as a member of Band, Vice President of Student Council, and Vice President of AOIT. Those experiences taught her that leadership is about serving others and making a difference.
Two educators who made a lasting impact were Mrs. Ashlynn Roger and Mrs. Claire Trouard. Mrs. Trouard sparked Precious’ interest in computers, while Mrs. Roger made science enjoyable. Both continued supporting her through college, law school, and her career, becoming more like family than former teachers.
One of her favorite memories was Homecoming Week, especially wrapping houses and seeing the entire Carencro community come together. Those moments reminded her that Carencro has always been more than a school—it’s a community.
Her advice to today’s students is simple: Success is earned, not given. Stay committed, work hard, and understand that every opportunity you want must be worked for.
When asked how Carencro Built Me, Precious said it best: “Carencro built me by teaching me resilience, and I bring that same strength to my work as a juvenile prosecutor.”
For Precious, Carencro was where leadership became a calling, mentors became family, and resilience became the foundation for a life devoted to serving others.

Sometimes the greatest lessons we learn in high school have little to do with textbooks. They come from the people who believe in us before we believe in ourselves.
For Rebecca Trahan, Class of 2001, Carencro High helped build the confidence and perseverance that continue to shape her life today as a Social Studies teacher.
During her years as a Bear, Rebecca was involved in Speech and Debate, SADD, Spanish Club, and National Honor Society. Speech and Debate, however, became a turning point in her life.
Her coach, Mr. Steve Harson, saw potential in Rebecca before she saw it in herself. Through his encouragement, she overcame her fear of public speaking and discovered a confidence that would eventually help lead her into the classroom.
Some of her favorite memories came from traveling to Speech and Debate tournaments with teammates who became like a second family. One moment that still stands out is placing third at the state tournament while surrounded by people who supported her every step of the way.
Her advice to today’s students is simple: don’t be afraid to try new things. You never know where they may lead.
When asked how Carencro Built Me, Rebecca reflected on the lessons that continue to guide her: hard work, perseverance, and believing in yourself—even when your goals seem unattainable.
Today, she passes those same lessons on to her students, encouraging them to see the possibilities in themselves.
ONE STANDARD. ONE CULTURE. ONE CARENCRO.

Some people measure success by titles. Others measure it by the impact they have on the people around them. For Damion Jones, both tell the story of a proud Carencro Bear who has dedicated his life to serving others. A member of the Class of 2003, Damion competed in football and track & field, experiences that helped shape the discipline, leadership, and work ethic that continue to define his career today.
Today, Damion serves as a Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Deputy and SWAT Operator, while also serving our state and nation as a 1st Sergeant with Charlie Company, 769th Brigade Engineer Battalion of the Louisiana Army National Guard. His commitment to service reflects the values he first developed during his years at Carencro High.
When asked who made the greatest impact on his life, Damion immediately thought of Mrs. Trotter, whose lessons went far beyond the classroom. She shared the realities of life after high school and challenged her students to prepare for the opportunities and responsibilities that awaited them.
One of his favorite memories of Carencro High is the excitement of Friday night football. Game days brought the entire community together and created lifelong memories with teammates, classmates, and friends that still hold a special place in his heart.
His advice to today’s students is simple but powerful: “Good leaders care about who’s right. Great leaders care about what’s right.” It’s a reminder that true leadership is rooted in integrity, humility, and doing what’s best—even when it’s not the easiest choice.
To Damion, Carencro Built Me by demanding the best from myself, my family, my friends, and my colleagues. That mindset of accountability and excellence has guided him throughout his life and continues to inspire those he serves every day.
One Standard. One Culture. One Carencro.

From the track at Carencro High to building his own business, Terrance St. Julien has carried the lessons of faith, perseverance, and community throughout his life.
A 1993 graduate, Terrance competed in track and field and is now self-employed. During his time at Carencro, Mr. Lyons made a lasting impact by serving as a steady mentor and positive influence. His guidance helped shape Terrance’s character and reinforced the importance of treating others with respect and staying true to your values.
One of Terrance’s favorite memories is the encouragement he received from Coach Tony Courville, whose belief in his students inspired them to keep pushing forward, both on and off the field.
His advice to today’s students is simple but meaningful:
“Fight to do well and it will pay off. Definitely keep God first.”
When asked to finish the sentence “Carencro Built Me…”, Terrance shared:
“By the love and care everyone had for each other and the way the majority of us always stuck together.”
Terrance’s story is a reminder that the strength of Carencro has always been its people. The relationships built here, the encouragement shared, and the sense of family continue to shape lives long after graduation.
