Some of the greatest lessons we carry through life don’t come from a classroom. They come from the people who believe in us, challenge us, and show us what is possible.
For Alfred Sinegal, Carencro High School was about opportunity, mentorship, and the people who helped shape his future.
As a member of both the Football Team and Key Club, Alfred learned lessons that would stay with him long after graduation. Those experiences helped build confidence, character, and a belief that success was attainable for anyone willing to work for it.
One of the individuals who made the greatest impact on his journey was Coach Emile Fourcade. As the sponsor of Key Club, Coach Fourcade opened doors for African American students and encouraged them to pursue opportunities that may have once seemed out of reach. More importantly, he instilled a simple but powerful belief—that they could become anything they set their minds to.
Alfred’s favorite memories come from his time as a member of the Carencro High football team, where lifelong friendships were formed and lessons about teamwork, commitment, and perseverance were learned.
Today, Alfred continues to embody the values he learned as a Bear as the Owner of Stockyard Cafe, serving his community with the same work ethic and determination that were developed during his years at Carencro.
His advice to current students is simple:
“Focus on getting a good education. With a good education, the sky is the limit.”
When asked to finish the sentence, “Carencro built me by…” Alfred’s answer reflected the people who helped guide his journey:
“My association with people like Coach Fourcade, Coach George Allen Conques, and Coach Jerry Griffin.”
For Alfred, Carencro wasn’t just a school—it was a place where mentors invested in young people, opportunities were created, and lifelong foundations were built.

Success is measured by more than what you accomplish. It’s measured by how many people you help along the way.
For Riley Viator, Carencro High School was more than a place to earn an education—it was where he learned the values that continue to guide him through life, business, and service to others.
One of the people who left the greatest impact on Riley was Carencro legend Kevin Faulk. While many admire Kevin for his accomplishments on the football field, Riley remembers something different. He remembers a man who never forgot where he came from, who always found ways to serve others, and who understood the importance of giving back to the community that helped shape him.
Those lessons stayed with Riley long after graduation.
As a Bear, Riley learned that success isn’t just about personal achievement—it’s about lifting others up along the way. That mindset continues to influence the way he approaches both life and work today.
One of his favorite memories came during the 2014 baseball season when he helped the Bears reach the playoffs. It was a reminder that hard work, dedication, and commitment to a common goal can accomplish something special.
His advice for current students reflects the values that have guided his own journey:
“If you ever have the opportunity to help someone, do it. It heals the soul in ways you can’t always explain. Give from a place of kindness and not because you’re expecting anything in return. Some of the greatest work you’ll ever do is helping others when no one is watching. Be a blessing simply because you can.”
When asked to finish the sentence, “Carencro built me by…”
Riley’s answer perfectly captures the lessons he carried with him from his time as a Bear:
“Teaching me resilience, dedication, and the importance of never giving up on my dreams. It reminded me that anything worth having in life takes hard work, persistence, and the courage to keep chasing what you believe in, no matter the obstacles.”
One Standard. One Culture. One Carencro.

Some players leave their mark on the stat sheet.
Others leave their mark on an entire program.
For John Paul Jones, Carencro High School was where he discovered what he was capable of becoming. Through football, track and field, and the relationships built along the way, he learned lessons that would shape the rest of his life.
As one of the most dominant defensive players in Carencro history, John Paul built a reputation for toughness, relentless effort, and leading by example. But the impact he made went far beyond the field.
When he arrived at Carencro, he admits he lacked direction. That changed when Coach James Broussard challenged him to become the best version of himself.
“Coach Broussard showed me what I was capable of achieving,” John Paul shared. “He pushed me to be better every day and played a major role in the success I’ve had both personally and professionally.”
Today, John Paul serves as a Senior Probation Officer, dedicating his career to helping others and giving people the same guidance and accountability that helped shape his own journey.
Some of his favorite memories aren’t just the wins—they’re the daily practices, the brotherhood built alongside his teammates, and the unforgettable experience of traveling to Hawaii and watching his dreams become reality.
His advice for current students:
“Maximize your potential, whether that be in the classroom or on the field of play. Give it all that you have because you will always remember not giving your absolute best.”
When asked to finish the sentence, “Carencro built me by…”
John Paul’s answer was simple:
“Making me tough and showing me that I can achieve anything if I am willing to put in the effort.”
One Standard. One Culture. One Carencro.

For Amber Withers, Carencro wasn’t just where she went to school—it was where she discovered her passion, found mentors who believed in her, and built the confidence to pursue a life of service through agriculture education.
As a student, Amber immersed herself in both 4-H and FFA, organizations that helped shape her leadership skills and opened doors she never imagined possible. Through livestock judging, public speaking, and countless leadership opportunities, she learned that growth often begins just outside your comfort zone.
Two educators left a lasting mark on her journey.
Amber credits Mr. Dwayne Martin, her agriculture teacher, as a mentor who became much more than an instructor. He encouraged her to pursue opportunities across the state, invested countless hours helping her prepare for competitions and workshops, and provided the kind of guidance that felt like having a second father.
She also remembers Mrs. Delcambre for fostering her love of reading and research. Through her English classes, Amber discovered the power of words and learned that education is about more than gaining knowledge—it’s about developing compassion, empathy, and understanding for others.
One of Amber’s favorite memories was winning the Louisiana FFA State Sheep Entrepreneurship Award. She and Mr. Martin spent countless hours perfecting her application, making the achievement even more meaningful because of the dedication and belief they shared in the process.
Today, Amber has come full circle and now serves as an Agriculture Teacher at Carencro High School, pouring back into the same community that helped shape her.
Her advice to current students is simple but powerful:
“Fear means you’re about to do something brave. Join the club you’re nervous to sign up for. Ask the questions that seem trivial. So many doors opened for me when I said yes to opportunities in college, and I wish I would have said yes more often in high school.”
When asked to finish the sentence, “Carencro built me by…” Amber shared:
“Providing a place for me to thrive and grow in agriculture education.”
One Standard. One Culture. One Carencro.

For Nick Carmouche, Carencro was more than a school—it was the place that helped shape the person he is today.
As a member of the Carencro Boys Basketball program, Nick learned lessons that extended far beyond the court. Through early mornings, long practices, and unforgettable moments with teammates, he discovered the value of discipline, accountability, and treating others with respect.
One memory stands above the rest: being part of the first boys basketball team in Carencro history to win a state championship. It was more than a trophy—it was a moment that united a community and created memories that will last a lifetime.
Nick credits Coach Christopher Kovatch as one of the people who had the greatest impact on his journey. Coach Kovatch showed him what consistency, leadership, and genuine care for others looked like every day. He challenged his players to be better, held them accountable, and built relationships that extended far beyond the game.
Those lessons stayed with Nick long after graduation.
Today, Nick serves as an Assistant Director of Basketball Operations at Cleveland State University, helping the next generation of student-athletes succeed while staying connected to the sport that helped shape his life.
His advice to current students:
“Be present and enjoy the moment. High school goes by faster than you think.”
When asked to finish the sentence, “Carencro built me by…” Nick answered:
“Teaching me discipline, accountability, and respect—not just how to work in the classroom and on the court, but how to treat people the right way every day.”
ONE STANDARD. ONE CULTURE. ONE CARENCRO.

Congrats to JD Guillory, a proud CHS Class of 2015 graduate who recently added DOCTOR to his name.
Some people leave a mark on your life that lasts long after you walk across the graduation stage.
For Dr. Jay Guillory, Carencro High School was the place where he first learned the power of believing in himself.
As a Bear, Jay stayed involved in every aspect of student life, participating in Band, Student Council, Link Crew, and AOIT. Whether he was serving others, building connections, or creating memories with classmates, those experiences helped shape the leader he would become.
When reflecting on the people who made the biggest impact on his journey, one name stands above the rest: Mr. Joey Mouton.
More than a counselor, Mr. Mouton was one of the first people to truly see Jay’s potential before he could fully see it himself. Through his encouragement, guidance, and unwavering belief, he helped Jay realize that higher education wasn’t just possible—it was something he deserved to pursue.
That support changed the trajectory of his life.
Today, Dr. Guillory serves in Postsecondary and Workforce Success Programs, helping others discover opportunities and build futures of their own. His work reflects the same belief that was poured into him years ago at Carencro: that when someone believes in you, anything becomes possible.
One of Jay’s favorite memories from his time at Carencro was the legendary senior prank—a memory that still brings a smile to his face whenever he thinks back on his high school years.
His advice for current students:
“Always bet on yourself, even when the odds don’t make sense to anyone else. Believe in your dreams before there’s evidence they’ll happen. Bet on yourself loudly, consistently, and unapologetically.”
When asked to finish the sentence, “Carencro built me by…”, Jay answered:
“Reminding me that where you come from can be both your foundation and your fuel.”
One Standard. One Culture. One Carencro.

Some people leave Carencro with memories. Others leave with a sense of purpose.
For China Boutte, Carencro High was the place where she learned to lead, serve, and step confidently into who she was becoming.
Whether she was serving as Student Council President, leading as Dazzler Captain, or earning the distinction of Carencro High’s 2025 Student of the Year, China embraced every opportunity to make a difference and invest in those around her.
She credits Mr. Seth Dickerson—a fellow Carencro alum—as one of the people who had the greatest impact on her journey. More than a teacher, he became a mentor who challenged her to step outside her comfort zone, take chances, and believe in herself even during moments of doubt.
As she begins her next chapter at Louisiana State University, where she will study Mathematics with a concentration in Secondary Education, China hopes to one day have the same impact on students that her teachers had on her.
Her advice to current students:
“You never know when your story, your struggles, or your growth could help change someone else’s life.”
When asked to finish the sentence, “Carencro built me by…” China shared:
“Surrounding me with people who pushed me to grow, believed in me when I doubted myself, and taught me the importance of hard work, community, and giving back to others.”
