What an incredible week at UCA Cheer Camp!

This was our cheerleaders’ third year attending camp, and our 17 athletes represented SPES and Cougar Pride with excellence. They worked hard and stayed positive, earning the Spirit Stick every single day of camp!

In addition, 8 of our cheerleaders were nominated to try out for UCA All-American Cheerleader, and we are thrilled to share that all 8 earned All-American honors!

SPES students who achieved the status of Word Millionaire this school year recently celebrated this reading achievement with an end of the year Beignet Breakfast! Word Millionaires are students who have read a total of one million or more words and successfully passed the AR quizzes associated with their books!

Students who would like to get a head start on becoming a Word Millionaire for the 2026-2027 school year can visit the SPES library tomorrow, June 16th, between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm to take AR quizzes that will count towards their first quarter goal!

We are excited to see how many students achieve Word Millionaire status for the coming school year!

Construction of the Innovative Learning Center has entered the next phase! The “little building” demolition is well underway to make space for the new building. While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to a building so rich in our church and school history, we are filled with excitement and gratitude for the future God is preparing for SPES! We look forward to sharing the progress of the Innovative Learning Center throughout the summer!

Yesterday we celebrated the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of our 1st–7th grade students at our annual Awards Ceremony! We were proud to recognize students receiving Top Runner and Reading Awards, as well as special 5th - 7th grade content awards. We also celebrated our 5th - 7th graders who earned Honor Roll and Principal’s List for the entire school year!

In the afternoon, students participated in “Move Up Day,” where they had the opportunity to visit their teachers and classrooms for next year!

We are so proud of all of our students for their perseverance, growth, and commitment to excellence throughout the school year. Congratulations to each of our award recipients!

We are incredibly proud of these students and grateful for the leadership, spirit, and example they have brought to our school this year. As they begin this exciting new chapter, we know they will continue to do amazing things.

Friday was a special day as we celebrated our SPES 8th grade Class of 2026 during their final day on campus. Throughout the day, students attended their last SPES Mass, shared farewell messages with younger grade levels, took a trip to Dave & Buster’s, shared lunch as a class, and completed their final walk through the halls of SPES.

While it is difficult to say goodbye to a class that has brought so much joy to our school family, we are incredibly proud of each of these students and look forward to all that lies ahead for them. Once a Cougar, always a Cougar!

Last week our third graders spent a special day participating in a “Growing with Mary,” retreat led by Mrs. Hendl! Throughout the day, students participated in a variety of faith-filled activities. They created their own rosaries, spent time in adoration, and planted personal Mary gardens, each complete with a beautifully colored statue of Mary.

The students also welcomed a guest speaker, Ms. Victoria (SPES alumna). Through her storytelling, Ms. Victoria transported the students back to Fatima, Portugal in 1917, guiding them through a quiet reflection on the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima. She concluded her visit by leading the students in singing a decade of the rosary. To make their decade an intimate May Crowning experience, our third graders created flowers, and place them at Mary’s feet.

The retreat concluded with the students praying a rosary together for their mothers and in honor of their Mother Mary to celebrate Mothers Day.
