Mrs. Greer’s fifth-grade class at Mintonye Elementary recently put their detective skills to the test with The Mystery of the Missing Stuffies!

When students returned from recess, they discovered that their beloved stuffies had mysteriously disappeared! Six suspects were identified: Mr. Mike, Mrs. Sheets, Mr. Richardson, Mr. Hall, Mrs. Delgado, and Mrs. Bell.

To crack the case, students had to use their understanding of inferences. Rather than simply guessing the culprit, students carefully examined the evidence, asked thoughtful questions, slowed down to consider the details, and cross-referenced information to build logical conclusions.

After investigating the clues, the fifth-grade detectives finally solved the mystery—the culprit was Mrs. Bell!

The Mystery of the Missing Stuffies was a fun, hands-on way for students to practice making inferences while putting their critical-thinking and problem-solving skills to work. What a memorable way to learn!

Draft Day was a special day in Miss Peckinpaugh’s 5th grade classroom at Mintonye Elementary, giving students the opportunity to learn about football through a fun, hands-on experience! Students explored the history of football, learned the basics and rules of the game, and discussed the importance of teamwork. They then participated in their own Draft Day, where they were drafted onto teams and took part in a variety of football-themed activities.

The learning will continue throughout the school year as students stay connected to their teams and use them to make learning across different subjects more engaging and meaningful. Draft Day was a great way to build classroom community, encourage teamwork, and make learning fun! 🏈

Mrs. Frey’s 2nd Grade class has been learning all about story elements this week! They read Not Norman and had fun discussing the characters, setting, and plot of the story.

To make their learning extra special, each student created their very own aquarium to take home and fill with water and a goldfish—just like Norman, the goldfish in the story! 🐟

The students also wrote about their new pets in their journals and were so excited to take their aquariums home. It was a fun and memorable way to bring their reading experience to life! 💙🐠
