Today, our 5th grade scientists mixed different substances to investigate chemical reactions!

Students observed and compared the properties of each substance before and after mixing to determine whether a new substance was formed.

They were making observations, asking questions and using evidence like real scientists!

Science is always more fun when we can get our hands messy!

🕵️‍♂️ CASE FILE: The Triangle Factory Tragedy 🕵️‍♀️

Friday, Mr. Mahler’s classroom transformed into a 1910s detective precinct as our students turned into full-fledged gumshoes on the beat!

Armed with primary and secondary sources, crime-scene evidence, and sharp instincts, these young investigators took a deep dive into one of history’s most pivotal moments. They combed through the records, read between the lines, and tackled the ultimate cold-case questions:

🔍 Who dunnit? ⚖️ Who shares the blame? 🏙️ Can the people of New York ever recover?

But uncovering accountability was only half the investigation.

Going deeper still, our scholars stepped into the shoes of Progressive Era reformers. Channeling the spirit of historic change-makers, they drafted bold, innovative proposals for labor and safety reform to ensure a tragedy like this could never happen again.

History met mystery today, and these critical thinkers proved that looking into the past is the best way to protect the future. 💡💥

Our first graders wrapped up their CKLA Knowledge Unit all about the human body with a fun-filled Doctor Day! They put their learning into action while reviewing everything they’ve discovered about how our amazing bodies work. 🧠🫀🩻

A huge thank you to our wonderful first grade teachers for planning such a fun, hands-on day and making learning come to life! ❤️📚
