🐾💙 Celebrating Karen and the Power of Giving Back! 💙🐾

Karen did an amazing job applying for the 4-H Yes Grant this year! Her grant project supported Natalie’s Second Chance Dog Shelter, where she created adoption bags for dogs finding their new forever homes.

With the help of her family and the Perry Wildcats 4-H Club, Karen was able to make her project even bigger! Our club members helped with assembly and donations, and proceeds from our club auction and bake sale helped add to the funds she had available for her grant project.

Because of Karen’s hard work, dedication, and the support of her family and club, she was able to provide over 140 adoption bags for new adopters to take home with their new family members.

We are so proud of Karen for seeing a need in her community and taking the initiative to make a difference. Her kindness, compassion, and commitment are a wonderful example of what 4-H is all about.

Thank you, Karen, for showing what it means to be a Perry Wildcats club member and for helping our community grow through kindness!

🌟 Indiana 4-H Youth: Ready to Make a Difference? 🌟

The YES (Youth Engaged Service) Grants are here! 🎉

Youth in grades 7–12 across Indiana can apply for funding to identify a need in their community and then create and lead a service project to address it.

This is more than a service project—it’s an opportunity to gain real-world leadership and project management experience! 💪

✨ What does a YES Grant involve?

Identify a need in your community.

Develop a youth-led service project.

Create and manage a project budget.

Recruit friends, club members, and others to participate.

Complete the project and submit a final report.

Adults will provide supervision and guidance, but the youth lead must take ownership of the project, application, budget, and final report with minimal adult intervention.

👥 Group participation is encouraged! Younger 4-H members can join in and see what youth-led service is all about. Clubs with members of all ages are welcome to apply—as long as the youth lead is in grades 7–12.

💡 IMPORTANT APPLICATION NOTE:
You will need to create a new account, even if you have applied for a YES Grant before.
✔️ Use a personal email address—not a school email.
✔️ The youth lead must create their own account.
✔️ Adults should not apply on behalf of the youth lead.
✔️ Keep track of your password—you’ll use this same account when applying for Indiana 4-H scholarships!

Funding for this initiative is made possible through Rural 1st by Farm Credit and Corteva Agriscience. ❤️

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Heather Dunk! 🌟

Today we want to take a moment to recognize one of our amazing 4-H volunteers, Heather Dunk! 💚

Heather has brought so much to our 4-H program through her time, dedication, creativity, and willingness to jump in wherever she is needed. She has helped create opportunities for our youth to learn, grow, try new things, and—most importantly—have fun along the way! 🐄🐴🌱🎨

Her passion for 4-H and the youth we serve truly shines through in everything she does. Volunteers like Heather are what make our program special, and we are incredibly grateful for the energy, ideas, encouragement, and heart she brings to our 4-H family. ❤️

Thank you, Heather, for all that you do and for the positive impact you continue to make on our 4-H members! We are so lucky to have you! 👏💚

Join us in giving Heather a BIG thank you! 🎉

If you are willing or able, the Exhibit Association will be needing all the help they can get at fair clean-up/tear down tomorrow, July 25th! Please bring shovels and brooms and come to the fairgrounds between 8am and 3pm tomorrow!

Please let us or the Exec. Board ([email protected]) know if you have any questions.

Hello everyone! Poultry exhibits were sent home early from the fair this weekend due to multiple cases of Coryza in the barn. Coryza is a respiratory bacteria that can spread quickly in poultry and is not uncommon. The disease does not present a human health threat. Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) was ruled out during testing at the Indiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL). This decision; that was made in tandem by project Superintendents, Fair Board Volunteers, 4-H Educators, and Indiana BOAH; to send poultry exhibits home is an effort to deter further spread of illness and protect the health of the poultry.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us via email at [email protected].
