Hello everyone! Poultry exhibits were sent home early from the fair this weekend due to multiple cases of Coryza in the barn. Coryza is a respiratory bacteria that can spread quickly in poultry and is not uncommon. The disease does not present a human health threat. Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) was ruled out during testing at the Indiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL). This decision; that was made in tandem by project Superintendents, Fair Board Volunteers, 4-H Educators, and Indiana BOAH; to send poultry exhibits home is an effort to deter further spread of illness and protect the health of the poultry.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us via email at [email protected].

Welcome BACK Areli Mendieta-Santos to the summer intern team! π€π
"Hi everyone! My name is Areli Mendieta-Santos, and I am an upcoming senior at Purdue University. I am majoring in Developmental and Family Science with concentrations in Child Development and Family & Community Health. I am also pursuing two minors; one is in Spanish and the other is in Latin American & Latino Studies. During my free time I enjoy thrifting, coffee tasting, and spending time with my family and friends. I may look familiar, as I am a returning intern! This is my second summer as a 4-H Intern with Purdue Extension and I am extremely grateful for another summer to continue growing, developing new skills, and expanding my experience. Iβm excited for another summer of meaningful work supporting youth and their families!"
