Student Success Tuesday

Sometimes, success isn't measured by a test score.

Sometimes it's hearing a child say...

"I can do it by myself."

For many children with dyslexia, reading can feel overwhelming. But with the right instruction, encouragement, and consistent practice, something amazing begins to happen.

📚 They stop guessing and start decoding.

đź’™ They stop avoiding books and begin picking them up on their own.

🌟 They stop saying, "I can't," and start believing, "I can."

Those moments may seem small, but they represent something much bigger—confidence.

At Dyslexia Institutes of America – Louisiana, featuring New Heights Academy, we celebrate every breakthrough because every step forward brings a child closer to becoming a confident, independent learner.

❤️ Never underestimate the power of one breakthrough. It could change a child's life forever.

đź’™ The Girl Who Started It All

Before there was Dyslexia Institutes of America, there was a little girl who struggled to learn to read.

She is my daughter, Maddie.

Like so many parents, I searched for answers. I watched her work harder than everyone else, yet continue to struggle. I saw the frustration, the tears, and the moments that broke my heart. I knew there had to be a better way.

I made a promise to her that I would find answers.

That promise became a passion. I dedicated myself to learning everything I could about dyslexia. I went back to school, earned certifications, and devoted my career to helping children with dyslexia learn to read. What began as a mother’s promise became my life’s calling.

That calling became Dyslexia Institutes of America.

Today, we celebrate the 16th anniversary of the very first educational assessment I performed. Since then, I have been blessed to help hundreds of children and families discover that dyslexia is not a limitation—it is simply a different way of learning.

Today, the little girl who inspired it all is a college graduate. Watching her grow into the remarkable young woman she has become is one of the greatest blessings of my life.

Maddie will always be my first client, my greatest inspiration, and the reason this mission exists.

To every family who has trusted me over the past 16 years, thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey. It has truly been one of the greatest honors of my life.

Maddie, thank you for giving my life a purpose I never could have imagined. You didn’t just inspire my career—you inspired my life’s mission. You will always be the heart behind Dyslexia Institutes of America.

💙 If you’re the parent of a child who is struggling to read, don’t lose hope.

With the right instruction, support, and someone who believes in them, children with dyslexia can thrive.

That is why Dyslexia Institutes of America exists.

❤️ With gratitude,

STUDENT SUCCESS TUESDAY

Every child has a story, and today we're honored to share one of our students' journeys.

"My learning difference is dyslexia. At my previous schools, I spent hours on homework and still made poor grades. Since coming to New Heights Academy, my grades have improved, and homework is no longer nearly as difficult."

"What helped me improve was memorization, brain exercises, and teachers who took the time to work with me until I finally understood the material."

"I would tell other students, 'Just because something is hard doesn't mean it's impossible. Keep trying.' I've learned that I can understand and remember almost anything when I learn in the way that works best for me. There are many people with dyslexia who have accomplished great things. You were made for greatness too."

Stories like this remind us that the right instruction, patient teachers, and perseverance can change a child's future.

đź’™ At New Heights Academy, we believe every child has the ability to succeed when given the right support.

You were made for greatness.

Monday Parent Tip

Every small step matters.

Children with dyslexia often put tremendous effort into reading. Instead of focusing only on getting every word right, celebrate their persistence, determination, and growth. Those moments of encouragement help build confidence that lasts a lifetime.

Try this week: Tell your child one thing you're proud of after reading together—even if they struggled.

Confidence grows when children know their effort matters.

Follow Dyslexia Institutes of America – Louisiana every Monday for practical tips to support your child's reading journey.
