Our Mountain Bike Team had their first race of the season this past weekend in Frisco. 35 riders registered to race on a great course at the Frisco Peninsula. For seven of them, this was their first time ever racing in a high school league event!
For the first time ever, we won two categories at the same event, with Walker Kirkpatrick winning the Junior Varsity Boy's race and Taavi Snapp immediately following that up with a win in the Varsity Boy's! Both of them had amazing rides against really strong competition and we're eager to see how the rest of their season goes.
Beyond those two, we had plenty of great rides from our riders in Boy's Freshman and Sophomore and Girl's JV. The arrow is definitely pointing up for our team! Amazingly enough, we also won the Spirit contest, where the theme was 'temporary tattoos'! We've never even factored in the theme contests in past seasons, and I think this really speaks to how were coming together as a team.
Their next race is in two weeks at Steamboat on Sunday, September 16.
