Edgelea Elementary

El agua limpia es un lujo que muchas veces damos por sentado. Estudiantes de la Universidad Purdue que cursan la clase de Suministro de Agua para Países en Desarrollo llevaron lecciones sobre agua limpia, segura y potable a los estudiantes ML de la Escuela Primaria Edgelea como parte de un plan de estudios que presentaron en la República Dominicana a principios de este mes. Estos estudiantes de Purdue visitan la República Dominicana cada año para trabajar y educar a las comunidades locales sobre la seguridad del agua. Trabajan en sistemas de filtración y también enseñan a los niños la importancia del agua limpia, ya que las enfermedades transmitidas por el agua pueden afectar la asistencia escolar.
A los estudiantes de Edgelea les ha encantado ayudar a los estudiantes de Purdue a practicar estas lecciones en español. Además, los estudiantes de Edgelea se conectarán con estudiantes de la República Dominicana como amigos por correspondencia. Han aprendido valiosas lecciones sobre la salud pública y el valor de los suministros de agua limpia en todo el mundo.

"I love how kind everybody is," says Rocky Young, a fourth-grader at Edgelea Elementary. Rocky enjoys math, reading, science, lunch, time on the playground ... truly, he loves it all. But the specials are what make the day. "Music is one of my favorites." And he has fond memories of guest readers coming when he was in earlier grades.

And Rocky is a big fan of his principal, Mr. Grubb. "He's really nice," Rocky says. "He makes sure everybody’s safe."

During National Principals Month, we celebrate our hard-working principals like Geoff Grubb at Edgelea Elementary School.
