📚 October Book of the Month Announcement! 🐾✨

We are so excited to announce our Book of the Month for October: Finding Winnie: The True Story of the World’s Most Famous Bear by Lindsay Mattick, illustrated by Sophie Blackall! 🍯💛

Did you know that before Winnie-the-Pooh became a beloved teddy bear in the Hundred Acre Wood, he was named after a real-life black bear cub? 🐻 This 2016 Caldecott Medal–winning picture book tells the incredible true story of Lieutenant Harry Colebourn, a Canadian World War I veterinarian who rescued a baby bear cub in 1914, named her "Winnipeg" (Winnie for short), and brought her along as a regimental mascot. When Harry was deployed overseas, Winnie found a safe home at the London Zoo, where a little boy named Christopher Robin Milne fell in love with her.

Whether you're reading with little ones at home or enjoying it yourself, Finding Winnie is a magical story for all ages!

📚🎃 You’ve Been BOOKED! 👻📖

The Halloween fun has officially arrived in our classrooms at Baranco Elementary, and we’re celebrating with a special focus on reading! 🧡

Students are being surprised with a spooky Halloween book that is read aloud to their class. Once they’ve enjoyed the story, the book is passed along to another classroom of their choice so the reading fun can continue! 📚➡️🏫

This creative tradition is a wonderful way to spark excitement about books, promote literacy, and encourage meaningful reading discussions throughout our school. We love seeing our students share their love of reading with one another! ❤️

What a fun way to celebrate Halloween while growing a community of readers! 🎃📖✨
