Smells Like Teach Spirit

Whew… today was a DAY! 🍀

St. Patrick’s Day was so much fun for the kids, but I’m not ashamed to say I’m not a big fan of theme days 😅 I’ve learned to keep them as low-key as possible these days—and that’s what works for me.

I will always shout this from the rooftops: if you choose not to do something in your classroom, even when everyone else is, don’t feel like your kids are “missing out.” 💛

If something overwhelms you or stresses you out… you simply don’t have to do it.

You matter too, teacher friend. Your well-being matters. Do what brings you joy. 🧡

I always tell my students that they can always say hi to me in the hallway and to come back on their birthday for a birthday hat. Just because they’ve moved on to the next grade doesn’t mean our relationship ends.

When students talk to you outside the classroom—not because they have to, but because they want to. Those moments mean everything. ✨

Those small conversations remind me that teaching is more than academics—it’s connection. 💛
