As summer is drawing to a close, it's almost time for school to begin. LPSS is excited to share the start dates for the 2023-2024 academic year with a staggered approach. The staggered start approach, while intricate, has displayed advantages for both teachers and students as they adapt to their new classrooms. Students who live in an apartment, duplex, or unit will use the actual number of the dwelling to determine the day for attendance. For example, Apartment #4 will attend with the even address students (B days), while Apartment #21 will attend with the odd address students (A days). Students whose home address uses only letters will use the following to determine days of school attendance: A-1, B=2, C=3, etc.

Reminder: ALL LPSS students are required to follow the clear bag policy for the 2023-2024 school year. Purchase them as early as possible, as there will be no exceptions on campus. Clear or mesh backpacks only🐾 🎒

Serve Day is approaching!

Join Love Our Schools and support Acadian Middle School on Saturday, July 29th from 8:30 a.m. to noon with numerous beautification projects. We are asking families, friends and community members to step up and invest in our local schools by providing the support to brighten the campuses for our administrators, teachers, and students before the start of the new school year. There will be the opportunity for all volunteers to participate no matter physical capabilities.

AMS Parents/Guardians: Mark your calendars for the first day of school! Please note: There is a new procedure for the start of the 2023-2024 school year. Students’ first day depends on their grade level. Each grade level is assigned a specific start date. Basically, only ONE grade level will attend each day. If your child is not in the appropriate grade level for that date, they do not report to school. ALL students report on August 15th 📚 🐾

In alignment with the proclamation issued by Governor John Bel Edwards designating Friday, June 16, 2023, as a legal state holiday in observance of Juneteenth Day, all LPSS programs and facilities will be closed. This includes all on and offsite summer school and summer camp programs in the district. Regular summer business hours will resume on Monday, June 19, 2023.
