Crawfish Time! 🦞
Once a month, we leave the classroom behind to explore and learn about the world around us. Whether it’s through history or hands-on activities, we love changing our environment and making learning come alive. This month, we dove into a cherished part of our culture… crawfish!
We traveled to Jeff Davis Parish, where students learned all about our beloved cuisine and the hard work it takes to bring crawfish from the farm to the table.
Then, we learned about Louisiana’s state reptile, the alligator! Students even had the opportunity to hold a baby alligator. Afterward, we picnicked and played at the park together.

This Teacher Appreciation Week, we want to give a special shoutout to two incredible women who pour so much into our students each and every day — Mrs. Lacey Mayor Herbstler and Mrs. Michelle Flott!
Both of these amazing teachers spend countless hours outside the classroom planning, creating, and preparing lessons that make learning impactful and meaningful. Their dedication, passion, and love for our students do not go unnoticed.
Freedom Christian Homeschool is truly blessed to have these two ladies as part of our team. ❤️💚🖤

We took a trip back to the 1990s in history class with Mrs. Michelle.
Students learned about one of the most exciting scientific advancements of the decade—the Hubble Space Telescope—and how it helped us see deeper into space than ever before.
Students got creative and made their own “galaxies” using paint, glitter, and shaving cream.
The results were out of this world!

Students have been studying sound and light waves on science. They explored how sound travels through vibrations and how light moves in waves we can see and experience every day.
From discussing how we hear our favorite songs to understanding how rainbows form, students were fully engaged and making connections related to the world around them.
Mrs. Lacey even shared her own musical talents. 😄

Today, as we gather with our families, share meals, laugh, and make memories, may we take a quiet moment to reflect on the true reason for this day.
In the midst of the joy, let’s not forget the depth of love shown through the Savior’s sacrifice. A love so great, so selfless, that it changed everything. A moment in time that would echo for eternity.
May our hearts be filled with gratitude, our homes with peace, and our time together with purpose as we remember what was given so freely.
Happy Resurrection Sunday ✝️

If you give a homeschooler a paper bag, they'll probably make a project out of it.
Students had a fun time presenting their paper bag projects that depicted an event of their choosing from the 80s and 90s.

What a Monday! FCH had class on the water today! 🛥
We highly recommend McGee's Swamp Tours. We loved the banter and knowledge shared by Captain Skip as we traveled the waterways. It was a highly entertaining and engaging experience. He even let students steer the boat.

Anytime we can change the learning environment, you can bet that we will! Here, Mrs. Lacey brought her science class outside to introduce kinetic and potential energy.

Grandparents Day is always such a special time for our school! We love honoring the family unit, and we love celebrating grandparents! 💚
Students and their grandparents enjoyed playing a fun game of “Name That Decade.” We showed pictures from different decades and everyone worked together to guess which decade each one came from.
It was so fun hearing the stories and laughter as grandparents shared their memories of these events.
Thank you to all the wonderful grandparents who joined us today! 🫶
Can you name that decade? 🤔
