Congratulations to Sister Geri Bowie for presenting her research, for the Robert E. McNair program. Her research explored the significance of human trust in AI decision-making within the context of Lean Six Sigma and industrial settings. This research played a crucial role in addressing the challenge of overreliance on AI or establishing a balanced level of trust with AI. ππ

Congratulations to Sister Nina Kanonye for successfully defending her thesis titled βIntegration of Vision-Language-Action Foundation Models for Adaptive Robotic Arm Control in Manufacturing.β Her outstanding research presentation earned her the prestigious ASRE Leaf Award.
The thesis is research she conducted where she trained a Vision-Language-Action model, a type of AI that takes in images and language commands and converts them into physical actions robots can execute. She trained it on motion data from a robotic arm, then loaded the trained model onto the robotic arm so it could perform tasks autonomously with no programming or human intervention. The broader goal sits at the intersection of generative AI and robotics: making machines more intuitive to operate so that intelligent automation is accessible across industries. ππ
