The new butterfly signs have landed!🦋

Joining the pollinator habitat signs behind Judice Rickles Hall, the new butterfly sign now stands proudly offering passersby’s a chance to learn more about some of our smallest campus residents.

This sign provides information about butterflies, their lifecycle, and their host plants, many of which are planted at the Judice Rickles Pollinator Habitat. This sign was installed as part of the Living Laboratory Signage Project, a multi-phase project that intends to transform the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s campus into a walking arboretum—a living laboratory. By installing educational signage along existing pathways, visitors and students can engage more with the diverse habitats on our campus and become more knowledgeable about sustainability initiatives and its impacts.

At each home game, the Office of Sustainablity and Community Engagement works with student volunteers along with campus and community partners to:

💧Pass out free water at the 3 cool zones
♻️Assist with recycling efforts in the stadium
🛍️Recycle plastic bags and film from concessions
🌭Assist with food recovery efforts in concessions

The Lafayette Letters are painted for Ragin’ Cajuns Downtown Alive this Friday, September 5, 2025 from 6:00 pm- 8:30 pm in Parc Sans Souci, Downtown Lafayette!

This special edition is hosted in partnership with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and features live music from The Good Dudes.

The event will include on-site activations from UL Athletics, the UL Alumni Association, campus partners, and community vendors. UL students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the greater Lafayette community are invited to come together in celebration of our vibrant college town.🤟❤️

Happy Zero Waste Week! To celebrate, here are some helpful tips to reduce landfill waste, increase recycling and promote a circular economy here on campus! ♻️🤟

Tomorrow is GAMEDAY!! 🏈 Recycling will be available in the stadium and at tailgating spots. Remember that anything going into the recycling bins must be clean, empty and dry!

Student volunteers from Geaux Bike UL and Students for Sustainability will be assisting with Gameday recycling and will be stationed at the THREE cool zones in the stadium passing out free water near the SE, SW, and NE gates.

The Judice Rickles Pollinator Habitat is looking fresh with some new signs and new plants!

This bed was designed to attract butterflies and if you’re lucky you can see them visiting their host and nectar plants at this location. A large butterfly sign is coming to this habitat soon so you can learn more about the butterflies on our campus! 🦋
