Another team. Another world-class finish. 🌎 UL Lafayette geosciences students have once again proven they’re among the best in the world, placing second internationally in the 2026 Imperial Barrel Award Competition after winning the North America regional competition this spring.

And they’re carrying on quite a tradition. UL Lafayette has won the international competition three times — more first-place finishes than any university in the world.

Congratulations to Myllah Brown, Anna-Sophia Henry, Ashley Mindt, Caitlyn Mullis and Amadeo Suazo on adding another impressive chapter to our School of Geosciences’ history.

KATC Meteorologist Jobie Lagrange visited Hamilton Hall to give a guest lecture about hurricanes for students in Introduction to Earth Science (GEOL 225).

This is a course designed for education majors to learn about astronomy, geology, and meteorology. We always appreciate when experts in our community are able to share their love of science with our students. Thank you, Jobie!

So thankful to Dr. Jennifer Hargrave for asking me to be a guest lecturer for her class at ULL to discuss OF COURSE hurricanes. 😍😍😍

I get to take over her Earth Science class for the day and we know I’m just an Earth Science girlie. 🌎🌍🌏❤️
