HAPPY MAIL!! When your mail includes not one, but TWO books that you actually got to contribute to… 🥹❤️

So excited to have Anger in the Classroom and Anxiety in the Classroom in my hands! These books are filled with practical strategies for creating a positive classroom climate, building resilience, preventing disruptions, and supporting students through challenging situations.

As teachers, we know that what happens in the classroom goes WAY beyond academics. 💛 Our students bring big feelings, big challenges, and big emotions with them every day—and we need tools to help them navigate it all.

And getting to contribute my own ideas and experiences to these books makes this happy mail even more meaningful. 🥹

“Did you know you’re on the front page of the paper?!”- my grandma 😂

While the picture is of me, the story is really about the students, educators, and leaders who have made the ACE Program such a success. I’m thankful I got to play a role in something that’s creating more opportunities for kids across Lafayette Parish.

Congratulations on the expansion of this amazing program, and a heartfelt thank you to the Pugh Family Foundation for investing in our students and making this continued growth possible. I’m excited to see this important work continue to grow!

Big news! ❤️

After 10 years in the K–12 classroom, we’re officially starting a brand new chapter.

This fall, we’ll be joining the College of Education & Human Development at UL Lafayette as visiting instructors, where we’ll have the privilege of preparing future teachers.

To be honest, this decision has been one of the hardest we’ve ever made.

Teaching has never just been our job. It’s our calling. It’s where we’ve grown, laughed, cried, built lifelong friendships, and discovered who we are as educators. Leaving our own classrooms is incredibly bittersweet because we’ll miss our students, their families, our coworkers, and the schools that have shaped us.

We’re not leaving education.
We’re simply changing classrooms!

Instead of teaching elementary students each day, we’ll be helping prepare the teachers who will one day walk into classrooms of their own. We can’t think of a more meaningful way to continue serving the profession we love.

To every student, family, coworker, administrator, and educator who has been part of our journey: thank you! You have challenged us, encouraged us, and helped shape the educators we are today.

Here’s to new beginnings, more impact, and the next generation of educators. Stay tuned! 🎉

Voilà! ❤️🖤 The red and black theme came out on top for this classroom library makeover, and we are obsessed with how it turned out!

This cozy little corner quickly became a student favorite once their teacher filled the shelves with books. There’s just something special about creating a space that invites kids to curl up and read.

Last year, one of our amazing 1st grade teachers received a $500 classroom grant and decided it was time to give her classroom library a fresh new look! She asked Mrs. Mercado to help bring her vision to life, so we created a few different design options.
