🌟 Quality Care After the School Day Ends 🌟

At Our Lady of Sorrows, learning and growing doesn’t stop when the final bell rings! Our after-school care program provides a safe, caring environment for our younger Saints after school. 💙💛

After-school care is available for students in 3K through 4th grade until 5:30 p.m.

✨ 3K after-care is included in the daily tuition rate.
✨ 4K and older students may participate for $6.50 per hour.
✨ Families can register through the school office.

Whether students are finishing homework, playing with friends, or enjoying time together, our after-school care program gives families peace of mind while providing students with a positive end to their day.

🍎✨ Let's Feature & Celebrate Our Amazing Staff! ✨🍎

Today, we're featuring Mrs. Amanda Coggins, our Elementary Art Teacher!
Mrs. Coggins is beginning her third year at OLS and her sixteenth year in education. She loves encouraging students to embrace their unique creativity while discovering the joy of art. Before joining OLS, she served in several educational roles, including middle school English teacher, fifth grade teacher, and Instructional Media Specialist.

Outside the classroom, Amanda stays busy with her husband and seven children on their hobby farm. She also enjoys running, gardening, reading, basketball, and coaching basketball and cross-country.

Thank you, Mrs. Coggins, for inspiring creativity and helping our students see the beauty in God's gifts!

Today, we're featuring Ms. Bobbi Bruce, our K-8 Technology & Middle School History Teacher!

Originally from the north side of Chicago (Go Cubs Go! ⚾), Ms. Bruce brings more than 40 years of experience in education to OLS. Although she's "retired...sort of," her passion for teaching and technology continues to inspire students every day.
Family and fun are at the center of her life. She's the proud mother of four children, grandmother of five, great-grandmother of two, and enjoys attending live theater whenever she can.

We’re excited to welcome Mrs. Jordan Winchel to our teaching staff as our new Third & Fourth Grade Teacher! 📚

Jordan is already a familiar face in the OLS community, having joined our school family last year as a parent—she’s Lee’s mom! This year, she’s taking on a new role as part of our staff.

Jordan previously taught third grade in Ladysmith and brings valuable classroom experience and a passion for working with students to OLS. We’re excited to have her share her experience, enthusiasm, and love of learning with our third and fourth graders this year.

✨ A Day in the Life at Our Lady of Sorrows ✨

What makes a day at OLS so special? It’s the little moments that help our Saints grow in faith, knowledge, confidence, and character. 💙💛

Each day begins in a community rooted in Christ, with opportunities for prayer, reflection, and growing closer to God through weekly Mass, class prayer, service projects, and special faith experiences.

Our Saints are challenged to learn and grow through engaging academics, small class sizes, hands-on experiences, and opportunities to discover their God-given gifts.

Beyond the classroom, students build friendships, serve others, and develop leadership skills through buddy classes, activities, field trips, and community involvement.

At Our Lady of Sorrows, we believe Catholic education is about forming the whole child. Every student is known, loved, supported, and encouraged to become the person God created them to be.

We can’t wait to welcome our Saints back for another amazing year of learning, growing, and living ! 💙💛📚✝️

We’re excited to share the first edition of **Walking with the Saints**, our new monthly OLS newsletter! This is part of our effort to share the wonderful things happening at OLS with our cluster parishes, current families, grandparents, alumni, and our entire OLS community.

This month’s edition includes a thank-you for our summer cleaning days, a recap of our students’ trip to the Wisconsin State Capitol, and an invitation from our Principal to join us for the upcoming school year—including our **OLS Gala on September 19!** 🎉

Today, we’re featuring Mrs. Connie Schalinske, our new Special Education Teacher at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School! This year, we are excited to welcome her into her new role as our Special Education Teacher

Mrs. Schalinske grew up in Rib Lake, Wisconsin, earned her degree in Physical Education from UW–Superior, and has called Ladysmith home since 1988. After 26 years of teaching and earning her master’s degree in Special Education, she retired before returning to OLS to continue serving students.

Thank you, Mrs. Schalinske, for sharing your experience, passion, and encouragement with our students and staff. We are grateful to have you as part of the OLS family!

Today, we're featuring Mrs. Diane Weber, our Middle School Language Arts & Religion Teacher!

Mrs. Weber has a passion for helping middle school students grow academically while deepening their faith. Before joining OLS, she spent 20 years serving youth through Kinship Youth Mentoring, an experience that continues to shape the compassionate relationships she builds with students.

She and her husband have been members of our parish family for more than 30 years and are proud to call this community home.

☀️ Start Your Day at OLS! ☀️

Need an early drop-off option? We’ve got you covered! At Our Lady of Sorrows, free morning drop-off is available for all students beginning at 7:00 a.m. 💙💛

Students are supervised by our Before Care lead, Ms. Tammy Busse, in a safe and welcoming environment where they can start their day with friends.

Breakfast is available beginning at 7:30 a.m. and is free for all students.

No advance registration is needed. Simply drop your Saint off and know they are cared for until the school day begins!
