This June, we recognize Pride Month as a time to celebrate authenticity, reflect on the ongoing pursuit of equality, and honor the contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals throughout history and within our own community.
At Burroughs, we believe that learning is strengthened when people feel seen, valued, and respected. We strive to create an environment where every student, faculty member, staff member, alumnus, and family can bring their full selves to our community and know they belong.
Throughout the year, that commitment is reflected in the many ways our community engages with issues of identity, equity, and inclusion through classroom discussions, affinity groups, community conversations, and programs that encourage empathy and understanding. One example came last fall, when our community gathered for "Just Human," a performance created by alumnus Jamie Linsin ’87 that explored stories of identity and connection. The evening concluded with a discussion led by Spectrum student leaders and faculty member Allegra Clement-Bayard, creating space for thoughtful dialogue, reflection, and connection.
As we celebrate Pride Month, we honor the many ways LGBTQ+ individuals have helped shape our communities and culture, and we remain committed to creating a school environment where every person is welcomed, supported, and empowered to thrive.
