Mission Moment for Friday.

Taking a day off is nice but we always have twice the work the next day.

We had two appointments, but also had 12 messages. So we either made appointments for next week or took care of them today.

We had a single mom of 3 come in for a bed frame, a mattress.

Friends picked up several items for a lady that had been homeless. They took her a mattress, boxspring, headboard, bed frame, blanket, sheet set, and two skillets.

Two young lady friends, one with a small daughter, who had been living with other people finally got their own place. They picked up a daybed, spoon holder, set of silverware, baking dish, 4 mixing bowls, cookie sheet, blender, mixer, electric can opener, 5 Tupperware, set of knives, 7 kitchen utensils, measuring cups, timer, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, body wash, set of glasses, set of pots and pans, 4 blankets, set of dishes, 2 shower curtains with rings, 2 sets of sheets, 6 bath towels, 8 wash cloths, 4 hand towels, 4 kitchen towels, 5 dish rags, toilet paper, trash bags, 2 bedspreads, laundry detergent, fabric softener, dish soap, toilet bowl cleaner, 3 pillows, and food. They both have good jobs but did not have anything to start a household.

Another young couple picked up a couch. They were renting one that cost way too much.

We gave a wheelchair to a mom for her adult son.

Pretty busy for a 4.5 hour day.

Veggie table is empty again.

Suppose to be too hot again next week so do not be surprised if I am home more than in the office.

Have a great weekend and until next time: forgiveness is good for your heart.

Mission Moment for Wednesday.

A family of 4 came in for food and hygiene products.

A lady came in for an elevated toilet seat for her husband.

Those were the only two appointments we had today.

Looks like everything is gone from the veggie table. If you have a garden do not let things rot, bring them to the table and share with everyone. Thank you to everyone who has kept feeding the community.

We did go to Lebanon Walmart today. We unloaded, processed, sorted, and got things put away. Added many items to the cubbies.

Just to remind you all, you must call the mission if you need anything or have a donation. We work only by appointment.

Tomorrow is our day off this week. We will gladly serve you on Friday.

Until next time: it is more blessed to give than to receive.

Mission Moment for Tuesday.

We picked up at Walmart this morning. Unloaded all that, processed everything and put things where they go. Cubbies are full.

Tomatoes on the veggie table.

We received a furniture donation and 3 bags of food. Thank you Terry and Dorothy.

A young mom came in and got clothing for her 4 kids, including new socks and underwear.

Michael from Ladoga Recovery Center brought us 128 rolls of toilet paper! Thank you Michael!

Did some shopping at Walmart while we were there. I found 5 shirts for $2 each, a dress for $1, 14 pair of jeans for $3 each, and 6 pair for $1 each. That’s how we roll. It’s all for next year’s back to school project. I shop all year round for back to school, so let the sales begin!

Until next time: rest in peace Dolly.

Mission Moment for Friday.

Took the day off yesterday. I was really busy, sitting on my porch.

It was a short day today considering we did not have appointments, but did have 8 messages. Took care of those and made several appointments for next week.

Two gentlemen friends picked up some furniture for us. Thanks Drew and Tim!

A young mom came in for food.

A young father came in for shoes for his 3 daughters.

Two different people came in for cheese.

We did go to Dollar General to buy a few food and laundry items for our pantry.

We now have 2,480 followers. So if you are someone who could help us keep our pantry full, please donate food or money. We get alot of businesses who have food drives in November but around June, July, we start getting low. We need canned fruit the most right now. We take anything. We have 6 freezers and 2 refridgerators. If you butcher every year, consider donating last year`s meat to make room for the new. We also do hygiene products and paper products. Right now toilet paper is the biggest need. A monthly check would be awesome and we would love to give you a tour before you make that decision.

We only have 5 churches and 9 individuals that send a monthly pledge. But the Lord makes it all happen. Thank you to everyone who donates.

Until next time: "I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live: yet not I but Christ liveth in me."

Mission Moment for Wednesday.

We only had one thing scheduled to do today.

We unexpectedly received food from the celebration of life for Leslie Dove. Cookies, brownies, cake, carrots, salads, and chips. Our condolences to the Dove family. We gave all that out.

Angela took recycling to the bin.

A woman came in for food and a rollator.

Another lady came in and got cheese and a cane.

We do have cheese and there are cucumbers on the veggie table.

Just to remind everyone, I will not answer Facebook messages if you are in need of anything. You must call the mission and leave a message if no one answers. I am retired and do not have mission hours. We do everything by appointment. You only need to leave one message. Your call will be returned as soon as I am in the office. We do not take everything. We are not goodwill. Every donation must be approved. We do not work on weekends and may take a day off during the week. I will post when that happens. We are picky because we want to provide nice things for the people who need them.

Our one thing that was scheduled for today was to purchase meat from Tolin Farms. We received a pass through grant from MCCF several months ago that was designated solely for meat. Again, we want to provide the best for people in need. I want to say thank you Shelby and Creed for our amazing experience at your farm. I recommend buying your meat from this great place. We will be back!

And speaking of, we have no appointments tomorrow so will be taking that day off.

Until next time: tell someone you love them today.

Mission Moment for Tuesday.

Another long day.

We picked up donations from Walmart. Then picked up 3 boxes of food from HHSB, then picked up cheese from Pace Dairy. Thank you Walmart, HHSB, and Pace for all your donations.

We got all that unloaded and put away. Lots of stuff in the cubbies because we also cleaned out our food pantry and put a lot of Cato clothes and jewelry out.

Two young ladies came in for clothes, domestic situations. They received 14 shirts, 8 shorts, 3 jeans, 2 sweats, 6 bras, coat, 2 pair of shoes, 2 pair of boots, and 50 hangers.

Angela took all the recycling to the recycle bin.

A lady came in for a walker for her husband.

A young mom stopped in for a nursing bra.

A grandmother came in for 3 pairs of leggings for her granddaughter.

Michael, Alumni Director at Ladoga Recovery Center, came in to tell us about Recovery Month. They will be having food, games, music, and a speaker. Everyone is invited. It is Sept. 12 at 1:00. We gave him a tour of our building.

Until next time: enjoy the beautiful day!

Mission Moment for Monday.

Busy 7 hour day.

We picked up 3 boxes of clothes from Cato, which is now officially closed. Most will be in the cubbies, along with
jewelry.

Cucumbers on the veggie table.

I called new market and walnut schools to see if they needed glue sticks. We delivered 120 to Hose.

Received 12 bags of donated food. Thank you Anita!

A friend dropped off some furniture and household donations.
Thanks Laura!

We gave out 15 boxes that a young lady needed for moving.

A gentleman came in for 2 pairs of jeans, 2 belts, and a pair of shoes for his job.

We gave out a backpack and 10 pairs of socks to a young mom.

We gave out 6 pair of underwear to another lady.

We sent out 2 boxes of new socks and underwear to Cambridge city flood victims.

Going to be busy tomorrow too. Finally found a place to purchase meat. Thank you Shelby.

Until next time: Jesus said to think of others better than yourself.

When you have a fire or another incident and you need anything, you can come to Mountie Mission. Pick out what you want. No need to post. You will not get tons of donations that you do not want and have to get rid of. Make it easy on yourself and just go to one place. And just get what you want. Clothes, shoes, household, food and furniture. Just sayin.

Mission Moment for Friday.

A young father came in today for diapers and pull ups. They homeschool one of their daughters so we gave her several school supplies, which included, folders, markers, crayons, binder pouch, notebooks, pencil sharpener, glue sticks, and a ruler. And of course things for her beautiful red hair.

Since we have an abundance of glue sticks I called Ladoga, Hose, and Hoover to see if they need any. Will make a few more calls on Monday.

We hung all the donated backpacks and stocked shelves with the donated supplies.

An older mother moved in with her son because he was in a motorcycle accident and lost both legs. We gave her everything she asked for which included, toaster oven, pillow, wash cloths, hand towels, bath towels, end table, lamp, and an air mattress since we have no beds at this time. We delivered to her because she has no car.

Angela and I had a helper today, my niece Emma. Thanks Em.

The homeless family came in again today and got shoes, the young man did not have shoes or socks, he was wearing plastic slip ones, pillow, socks, shirts, shorts, sweats and food. Talked to them awhile as we were getting the items they needed. The young man left a mother that was a drug addict. He went to his dad’s who was abusive to him. So he moved in with this family. So he now calls this family his family, that is now homeless. A very respectful young man. They also are sleeping on the air mattresses I gave them, but the ground is so saturated with water, the mattresses are wet. I cannot imagine sleeping in a tent with your bed practically floating and getting up to go to work from there. They have the best attitude. Do not think I could handle it.

Veggie table had tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers when I left the office this afternoon.

Until next time: someone is always worse off than you.

Mission Moment for Thursday.

Have I mentioned how much I hate the heat?

We took yesterday off.

Today we processed and counted all the backpacks we received on Tuesday.

We had a call the beginning of the week from someone who just rented an apartment and they have no way to cook so she asked for a microwave. We did not have one. But we got one from Walmart on Tuesday so I called her to let her know. She came and picked it up and was very happy.

A lady on disability who is taking care of her nephew who is special needs came in for help with propane. We do not help with bills but we had a long talk and we gave her plenty of food since she cannot get food stamps. Hoping the savings on food will help her get propane.

We gave another family of 3 food.

We picked up a tremendous load of donated school supplies. Thank you Amanda! Had to load, unload, then count all of those.

Angela took out 3 loads of recycling to the bin.

Our food pantry is getting very low. We could use peanut butter, jelly, canned fruit, hamburger helper, spaghetti sauce, hot dogs, mac and cheese, cereal, tuna, canned chicken, crackers and anything else you would like to donate. We really need meat. Since Montgomery Meats is closed temporarily, we do not know where to purchase meat.

The veggie table is completely empty! If you have garden veggies that you do not need, please donate them so they do not go to waste. Or if you have too many eggs we take those too, but let us know. We do not leave them outside.

Until next time: Jesus said, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments."
