With summer right around the corner, I’ve been planning all the fun activities I want to do ☀️

And one thing I always bring out more in the summer… process art 🎨

Next time you’re at the dollar store, grab a few pool noodles and cut them into pieces—instant paint brushes!

It’s one of those low-prep ideas that actually works.

Save this for summer ☀️ and pull it out when you need something simple but fun.

With summer right around the corner, I’ve been planning all the fun activities I want to do ☀️

And one thing I always bring out more in the summer… process art 🎨

Next time you’re at the dollar store, grab a few pool noodles and cut them into pieces, instant paint brushes!

My students LOVE using them because they’re different, easy to hold, and make the coolest prints. It turns a simple painting activity into something way more exciting (and keeps them engaged longer 🙌)

Say BEE 🐝 and I’ll send you this! 💛

My kids were OBSESSED with this beehive activity… they did not want to stop.

They were building their hives, placing each piece so carefully, and pretending their bees were flying from hive to hive.

We used play-doh to build the base, then added honeycomb cereal to create hexagon shapes using simple build cards. Such an easy setup, but it kept them engaged the entire time.

And the best part? They were working on:
• shape recognition (hello hexagons!)
• fine motor skills
• hands-on math

If you’re doing a bee or insect theme (or just need something that will actually hold their attention), this makes it so much easier. 💛

Pro tip: don’t save the play-doh after… cereal crumbs = not worth it 😅

Looking for a simple, hands-on way to practice name recognition? ☀️☁️

Students trace their name on the cloud, then cut and paste sun rays to build and spell their name. It’s perfect for working on fine motor skills, name recognition, and letter order all in one activity.

You can type in each student’s name using the editable PowerPoint or just use the blank template to write them in yourself. (Both color + black & white options included 🙌)

And yes… it even works for those extra long names—just think of it as a “sun with LOTS of rays” kind of day 😅☀️

🌱💛 This kept my students busy WAY longer than I expected… 💛🌱

I set this up as a simple “Build a Garden” math center and they were completely into it 🙌

They pick 3 cards and create their garden with loose parts + play dough. It’s such an easy way to work on counting, number recognition, and fine motor without it feeling like learning, and instead just playing!

🌸🌱 Garden Theme Centers 🌱🌸
I’ve been setting up some garden-themed centers and they’ve been so fun!

Here’s what I’m using:
• 🌼 Flower pattern dot markers for color matching
• 🧚‍♀️ Build a fairy garden (Dollar Tree items + counting cards)
• 🌈 Rainbow garden cut & paste color sorting
• 🌱 Seed tracing with glue for fine motor
• 🪴 Garden sensory bin for hands-on math practice

Super simple to prep, but hits fine motor, math, and sorting skills all at once 💛

Ever have a kid insist on wearing a swimsuit on a rainy day? 😅☔️

I love using this Weather Dress Up activity because it finally makes “what should I wear?” click for preschool + preK students in a hands-on, meaningful way.

Here’s what we do:
Students pick a weather card (sunny, rainy, snowy, windy, etc.) and dress their mat with the matching clothing pieces. It turns a simple weather lesson into real-life problem solving, vocabulary practice, and center time play that actually sticks.

🌎✨ One of my favorite easy Earth Day centers ✨🌎

I kept this one super simple, just green dyed rice as the sensory bin filler + recycling cards.

Students pick a card, sort it into the bin, then find and color it on their sheet. Easy setup, but still hits sorting + fine motor skills, and most importantly learning about recycling!

🐛✨ Build a Caterpillar Fine Motor Center ✨🐛

Set up a tray with pattern cards, pipe cleaners, and rainbow beads, and have students build their caterpillar by recreating the color pattern on the pipe cleaner.

It’s simple to prep, keeps little hands busy, and is perfect for centers or morning tubs.

🐦✨ Birdhouse Craft Center ✨🐦
This is such an easy, hands-on activity to add to your centers!

Students can cut out their own pieces (great for scissor skills) or use pre-cut pieces for an easier setup. Then they paste to create their own unique birdhouse.

I love seeing how different they all turn out! 💕
