Important Update to the 2026–2027 School Calendar:
We are writing to share an important update regarding the start of the 2026–2027 school year.
Lackawanna City School District has announced that it is moving its first day of student attendance to Tuesday, September 8, 2026. As a charter school, Global Concepts Charter School is required to align its school calendar with that of our home district.
As a result, Global Concepts will NOT have school for students on Wednesday, September 2 or Thursday, September 3, as originally indicated on our school calendar. Our first day of school for students will now be Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
Lackawanna's Board of Education is expected to make a determination on Monday, August 31 regarding which two additional dates will become student attendance days to account for this change. We anticipate learning those dates by Tuesday, September 1 and will communicate the updated calendar with our families, staff, and community as soon as that information is available.
We appreciate everyone's flexibility as we make this necessary calendar adjustment. While we will have to wait just a few extra days to welcome our students back, our excitement for the year ahead has not changed. Our classrooms are ready, our staff is prepared, and we are eager to see our Gators back in the building.
We look forward to officially kicking off another great year at Global Concepts on Tuesday, September 8!

🎓 On Thursday, we celebrated our kindergarteners and wished them a happy summer during their Moving On Ceremony! We are so proud of all they have accomplished this year and can’t wait to see all they do in first grade.

Our 8th graders had a fantastic time celebrating together at yesterday's picnic! The weather cleared up so students were able to enjoy time on the playground, basketball games, and had plenty of time to laugh and hang out with friends as they wrapped up their middle school journey.

It was great seeing everyone make memories, enjoy the weather being nice (albeit windy) and celebrate this year.

At Global Concepts, our kindergarteners' "Big, Big Dreams" are becoming reality! 💚🐊

Our youngest Gators (who graduated today!) had the honor of singing to our graduating seniors, creating a truly heartwarming moment that reminded us just how quickly the years fly by. Watching our kindergarteners look up to the Class of 2026 and our seniors reflect on how far they've come was nothing short of magical.

Our Culinary Arts students and volunteers did an outstanding job preparing and serving a formal Red Carpet Dinner for our Class of 2026 Seniors. From the beautiful décor and elegant dining room setup to the delicious food and professional service, every detail reflected their hard work, dedication, and talent!

Our STEAM students put their creativity, engineering skills, and environmental awareness on full display this week! 🎶♻️

Using recycled materials, students designed and built their own musical instruments, learning how everyday items can be transformed into something new and exciting. To celebrate their hard work, they took their instruments outside for a lively parade around our track, filling the air with music, energy, and smiles!

This hands-on project combined science, technology, engineering, art, and math while encouraging innovation, teamwork, and sustainability. We are so proud of our students for their creativity and enthusiasm!

Today we welcomed back some very special visitors! 🎓🐊💙

Our graduating seniors returned to walk the halls of their elementary school one last time, inspiring our youngest learners and reminding us just how quickly the years fly by. It was a proud full-circle moment to celebrate how far they’ve come and all that lies ahead.

No matter where life takes them, they will always be part of our Gator Family. We are so proud of the incredible young adults they have become and grateful to have been part of their journey.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026! Once a Gator, always a Gator! 🐊🎓💙

Congratulations to the Global Concepts JV Track Team on an outstanding performance at the JV Championships!

Our athletes represented Global with pride, determination, and hard work throughout the season.

Azai’Veon Spearson
• 5th Place – 110m Hurdles
• 14th Place – 200m Dash
• 13th Overall – 100m Dash

Abdoul Balde
• 1st Place – 200m Dash (24.65)
• 2nd Place – 100m Dash (12.22 PR)

Matthew Mills
• 4th Place – 200m Dash
• 2nd Place – 400m Dash (56.31)

Josiah Clay
• 7th Place – 100m Dash (12.69 PR)
• 3rd Place – 400m Dash (56.42)

The boys’ 4x100 relay team finished 2nd overall, helping the team earn 46 total points and a 4th-place team finish despite competing against schools with much larger rosters.

Special recognition to our girls:
• Mia Pujois – 9th Place
• Alisson Granade – 9th Place

Congratulations as well to Jon Anderson for qualifying among the Top 16 in the 200m Dash and advancing to the State Qualifier Meet.

We are incredibly proud of all our student-athletes for their commitment, growth, and effort. Their hard work continues to pay off, and this performance is a reflection of the dedication they have shown all season.

What better way to celebrate our students' hard work on the state tests than with a dunk tank? 💦🎯

Today, our principal, Mr. Schaub, bravely took a seat in the dunk tank and gave students the chance to send him splashing into the water! As a reward for giving their best effort on the state assessments, students had the opportunity to take their shot—and they absolutely loved it!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this memorable event possible. It was a fantastic way to recognize our students' efforts and end the day with some well-deserved fun! 🎉👏
