Howdy everyone,
The Dragon Boat Festival is coming up next month on Saturday, April 30th and Sustainability Club has volunteered to help out with the recycling, composting, and waste management for the event. The goal this year is to divert 55% of the waste to either recycling or compost. We would be needed for set-up (6-6:45am) and take-down (4:30-6pm) and would be responsible for getting the waste into the right dumpster, the wire frames that serve as the waste containers, and putting up posters explaining what waste goes where. If you need a ride, I can drive up to 4 people in the morning and there is a shuttle available all day during the event going back and between SMU and Port Plaza.
If you are interested in volunteering, please send me an e-mail or Facebook message. There will be free t-shirts for volunteers and doughnuts! Thanks!

2016 is the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service. With Mount Rainier National Park being over 100 years old we are sharing park features that are 100 years old or older. In July 1908 construction of the Nisqually Road was completed as far the Nisqually River. At that time the road passed close enough to the terminus of the Nisqually Glacier to feel the coolness from the ice. The location of the road has not changed, however the glacier is now receded out of sight up valley.
