The parking lot is under water from all the rain we have received and there is another chance for rain around 3:30-4:00. For these reasons, we have decided to cancel today's (August 16th) painting hours.

We will be offering time to paint on Saturday, August 29th and Sunday, August 30th to finish up your spots. You will receive an email with updated times this week. I am so sorry for the inconvenience this is causing!

If you have any questions, please reach out.

Thank you for understanding,

It's hard to believe, but summer break has gone by fast and the school year is already upon us. With students returning to classrooms across DeKalb County, now is a good time for all drivers to be extra careful around schools, crosswalks, and school buses. A little extra patience and attention can go a long way in keeping our kids safe.

This school year also brings an important change required by Indiana law. Senate Enrolled Act 78 limits student use of personal wireless communication devices during the instructional day. At DeKalb Middle School and DeKalb High School, cell phones will be powered off and stored in each student's assigned locker. These expectations are intended to reduce distractions, strengthen student engagement, and maximize learning opportunities.

We also understand that there are times when parents need to communicate with their child during the school day. At DeKalb Middle School and DeKalb High School, families will have the opportunity to communicate with their student(s) through StudentSquare, which students can access on their school-issued Chromebook. Parents may also contact the school office whenever assistance is needed. This provides a school-approved communication option while supporting the intent of the law and keeping our focus where it belongs: on teaching and learning.
