The La Veta, Colorado RE-2 School District comprises approximately 210 students attending classes from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. The Board of Education focuses primarily on student achievement. The school’s mission states that all students will graduate as lifelong learners and productive citizens. The La Veta Schools are one of only 27 public school districts among the State of Colorado’s 178 districts that are “Accredited with Distinction” by the Colorado Department of Education. However, the Board of Education has even higher expectations. The Board is working toward its vision of an A+ School of Excellence in which every student fulfills her or his potential. The Board is focused on continuously improvement of measurable results for its students. Important results areas are academics first, athletics, character, service and a broad range of extracurricular opportunities. The Board knows that a key requirement for achieving the desired results is to recruit and retain the highest quality teachers. To achieve these lofty goals, the La Veta Schools needs the active support of the community in which the schools are located. An engaged and vital community attracts and supports young families and volunteers to support the school and its students. Likewise, the Board of Education knows that high quality schools attract vibrant new residents to the community.
