Think about that for a minute.

You may have expectations for customer service, performance, communication, deadlines, and accountability—but what happens when those expectations aren't met?

Better Communication. Greater Influence. Stronger Service.

I had the opportunity to spend the day last week with the Jennie Dibala State Farm agency team for a highly interactive B.A.N.K. Fundamentals – Sales workshop.

Throughout the workshop, we explored the four B.A.N.K. personality types, how each approaches decisions differently, what they value, and how those differences affect the way we communicate.

And while B.A.N.K. has a powerful application in sales, the impact goes much further.

We worked on how understanding the person in front of you can strengthen:

✔ Sales conversations
✔ Influence and connection
✔ Client service
✔ Follow-up
✔ Team communication
✔ The overall client experience

One of the biggest takeaways:

Influence begins with understanding.

When you understand what matters to someone, you can communicate more effectively, serve them more intentionally, and build a stronger relationship.

You can communicate clearly and still not be understood.

That is one of the leadership challenges Chris Condon, Founder & CEO of Aircon, and I explored during our conversation on The Dona KAPP Show.

As a leader, you may already see the next five or six steps.

Your team may not.

And simply repeating your message louder or more often doesn’t solve the problem.

Chris shared something he continues to work on in his own leadership:

His delivery and tone are just as important as the clarity of his direction.

Some people need a face-to-face conversation.

Others need something in writing so they have time to process it.

Some need more context.

Others need you to get directly to the point.

One-size-fits-all communication rarely fits everyone.

The job of the leader isn’t simply to send the message.

It is to make sure the message is received, understood and actionable.

When leaders learn their people and adapt accordingly, communication improves, engagement improves and the business becomes less dependent on the owner.

What is the destination for your business?

This past week, I had the opportunity to share the 6 Steps to a Better Business with NB Elevate Networking Alliance group.

We covered several of the fundamentals, but I really wanted everyone to think about Destination Mastery — beginning with the end in mind.

One thing I shared was:

If you don’t know where you’re going to be in the next five years, you’re already there.

As business owners, we can get so focused on today that we forget to decide what we are actually building toward.

I challenged everyone to put two dates on paper:

1. The date you want to exit the day-to-day operations of your business.
2. The date you want to be completely done — whether that means selling it, handing it down, transitioning ownership, or choosing another path.

Those dates matter.

Because the true wealth event often comes when you have built a business that can operate without you and has real value beyond you.

That takes planning, systems, profitability, the right people, and a clear destination.
