Last week, teacher candidates from the LaFetra College of Education's special education program completed the last fieldwork hours for one of their classes at the CNLW through its Literacy Program. CNLW is proud to have served hundreds of children through this program over the past 20 years and looks forward to hosting a new group in February!

Dr. Niki and the CNLW staff repped and shared the importance of engaging in service with genuine joy to deepen connections, mobilize change through philanthropy, and achieve one's goals and purpose. Represent! Last week, our director, Dr. Niki Elliott, presented at the annual Polyvagal Institute Summit in Atlantic Beach, Florida! Dr. Niki shared how polyvagal theory can mobilize us to address social justice issues such as the over-representation of students of color in special education, disciplinary referrals, and white fragility. We are so proud of her and all her hard work!

We learned about the brain and nervous system, explored regulating mind-body practices, and engaged in relationship building.
