Last week’s Rotary meeting was a powerful reflection of leadership, opportunity, and the future of the Coachella Valley.
We were honored to welcome our club member Jose Esparza, who shared insights on The New Mindset of the Coachella Valley, a growing local podcast and television platform focused on entrepreneurship, wellness, resilience, and community storytelling throughout the desert region.
Jose spoke about how the Coachella Valley is entering a new era centered on sustainability, civic engagement, innovation, and community-first growth. Through conversations with local entrepreneurs, nonprofits, creatives, and leaders, The New Mindset continues to amplify the voices shaping the future of our valley and creating positive local impact.
As Rotarians, these conversations deeply connect to our mission of Service Above Self, supporting communities, empowering future leaders, and investing in long-term opportunities that strengthen our region.
The club was also honored to welcome scholarship recipients from Coachella Valley High School, Evelyn Ochoa-Ramos and Ximena Alvizar-Lucero, who shared their inspiring educational journeys and future plans with our members. Although our annual scholarship dinner has already taken place, our club wanted to continue recognizing and connecting with our scholarship recipients who were unable to attend the scholarship dinner. Evelyn will be attending California State University, Fullerton this fall, while Ximena will continue her studies at the University of California, Berkeley. Their dedication, resilience, and commitment to higher education reflect the incredible potential of the next generation of desert leaders.
Additionally, we welcomed a graduating student from La Quinta High School, a student of our very own Club President Frank Ceja’s students, who shared his plans to continue his family’s gardening business after graduation. His story highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship, hard work, family legacy, and the vital role small businesses continue to play throughout our communities.
From uplifting students pursuing higher education, to supporting young entrepreneurs, to engaging in meaningful conversations about the future of the Coachella Valley, Rotary remains committed to creating positive and lasting change.
Together, we continue to building a stronger community rooted in service, leadership, opportunity, and hope. 💙💛
