Hey there, friends! It's time for news and updates. So many people have been reaching out to ARISE, which I love!
The information I do have: We are a secular, inclusive co-op for ages 11 and up. We aim to create a supportive community for homeschooling students and their families.
However, we currently don't have a location. We need a place to hold meetings/classes weekly, and so far I haven't been able to find a location that would work reliably. Of course, rent is also a factor. Some locations were asking for an amount that wouldn't work for our small group.
I'm ready to dig in, get creative, and look for solutions. It seems we may have to readjust our vision and start smaller. Perhaps a one day a week program(I'm thinking Tuesday or Wednesday), 10a-1p(or something around then), two classes, a lunch, and a short "homeroom" style meeting. This could make it easier to find a location and keep costs down.
However, we can't do this on our own. Nor do I want to. I don't want this to me "mine"! I want it to be ours. A true communal experience. I want everyone who joins to feel a claim to ARISE, and know that their feelings and input matter. So, please, if you have any ideas or suggestions, let us know. We want to make this work for you as much as for us.

Phew, July was a wild ride. I don't know about y'all, but I'm looking forward to August! We are regrouping, planning another meeting, and working on what ARISE will look like this school year. However, I know we will be shifting gears. There isn't enough interest at this point to cover the rent. That is ok! I was eager from the jump, but things like this can take more time to get off the ground. That doesn't mean we aren't launching this fall, only that things will look different than we initially planned! To get a program like this going is a marathon, not a sprint. So we're slowing down a bit, and trying to make sure we can provide a wonderful group and experience for all families involved!

We’ve decided to postpone our next meeting until the following week to give everyone a chance to recover from everything going on. We’ve also decided to instead make this a fun meet up for the kids to meet and hangout so please stay tuned for location! All are welcome!

We are holding an in-person meeting on Friday, July 19th to answer your questions and begin registration!!! We can't wait to meet you all!

At ARISE, we believe that boundaries, limits, and success are things that you pick for yourself. We are creating a cozy, supportive, encouraging, and accepting environment where you can step away from the comparison trap and the "shoulds" to walk the best path for you.

As homeschoolers, we can already meet our kiddos where they're at and tailor learning to help them thrive. And ARISE wants to be a part of that. We are a co-op that gives students a choice in their education and enables them to feel empowered, confident, and adept.
We are having an in-person meet-and-greet/information session on July 19th, at 1 p.m. at the LaPorte library and would love to see you there. Come hang out! There will be refreshments and, best of all, a few door prizes!! Check the event on the page for the details.
