🚌 School is back in session this week! Help keep our students safe on the road.

As school buses return to roads across Charles County, remember to slow down, stay alert, and always stop for school buses.
🟡 Flashing yellow lights: Slow down and prepare to stop.
🔴 Flashing red lights + stop arm: Stop at least 20 feet from the bus.
🛑 Stay stopped until the stop arm is retracted, the red lights stop flashing, and the bus begins moving again.

Drivers traveling in the same direction as a school bus must always stop. Drivers approaching from the opposite direction must also stop unless the roadway is divided by a physical median barrier. Never use the shoulder to pass a stopped school bus.

Back-to-school also means there may be new student drivers on the road navigating their school commute. Give them a little extra space and patience, too. Be kind out there! 💛

Give yourself extra time, stay focused, and watch carefully for children walking or crossing near bus stops. A few extra minutes of patience can help keep everyone safe. 🚌

🚒 A GREAT START FOR OUR FIRE-RESCUE CADETS! 🚑

Day #1 is officially in the books, and we could not have asked for a better start!

All 23 cadets reported to class on time, in full uniform, prepared to learn, and ready to begin the year. From the start of class, they were focused, engaged, and demonstrated the attitude and professionalism we expect from members of the Charles County High School Fire-Rescue Cadet Program.

To our cadets: Be proud of the way you started today. You have an exciting and challenging year ahead of you. There will be long days, difficult lessons, new skills to master, and plenty of opportunities to grow—but remember, you are part of a team, and we are here to help you succeed.

Today was only the beginning. Keep showing up, keep working hard, support one another, and take advantage of every opportunity this program provides.

23 cadets. One team. One great first day.

We are proud of you already—now let’s see what the rest of the week brings!

🔥 Stay focused. Stay motivated. Stay committed. 🚒
