One topic you can discuss together is their goals. Are there skills they want to develop, like being more organized or managing their time better? Is there a subject they’re struggling with that they want to improve? Maybe there’s something new they want to try this year. Setting goals will help kids think more about the bigger picture and less about individual successes and setbacks.

At Kumon, we see students achieving incredible academic success beyond their grade levels and age. We celebrate these student achievements by recognizing their hard work with various awards.
The Kumon International Standard (KIS) is the global standard for a student's grade level. Since Kumon is offered in more than 60 countries around the world, a first-grader in the U.S. is equally compared to a first-grader in Brazil.
With that in mind, students can earn a spot on the Advanced Student Honor Roll (ASHR) which recognizes students studying above their school grade level.
