San Diego showed up, and we are grateful.
The second Homelessness Solutions Collaborative filled the room at Marina Village on Wednesday, August 19, bringing together community advocates, healthcare providers, law enforcement, elected officials, service organizations, business leaders, and people with lived experience for a shared conversation about solutions.
The response was so strong that in-person capacity was reached, and livestream access was opened so even more people could be part of the discussion. Thank you to everyone who attended, tuned in, shared the event, invited others, and helped build momentum around this important work.
This kind of support matters. It shows that our region is ready to keep working together toward more coordinated, compassionate, and effective responses to homelessness, addiction, mental health, recovery, and long-term stability.
The gathering followed the release of the first-ever Best Practices Toolkit: Addressing Homelessness and Addiction through “Treatment First,” a national resource from the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, HHS, and HUD. Rhombus and East County Transitional Living Center are both represented in that toolkit, helping connect local work to a national conversation.
Throughout the event, one message came through clearly: housing is essential, and lasting change also requires treatment, behavioral health care, recovery support, structure, employment readiness, community, and continuity of care.
We are especially thankful for the speakers, partners, service providers, and attendees who brought their time, experience, expertise, and commitment to the table. Your participation is helping move this conversation forward.
The momentum is growing, and the work continues. The next Homelessness Solutions Collaborative discussion is scheduled for February 10, 2027, with in-person and virtual attendance options.
