π’π¨ ARREST MADE
On July 14, 2026, at approximately 12:40 p.m., officers with the La Marque Police Department were dispatched to a 911 hang-up call regarding a female in distress.
Upon arrival La Marque Police Officer observed Steven Sandles, who was seated in the passenger seat of a vehicle, attempting to steer the vehicle into traffic on Interstate 45 Southbound. The officer learned that Sandles was possibly armed with a handgun, suspected to be under the influence of narcotics and he had allegedly assaulted the driver.
As the initial officer attempted to take Sandles into custody, Sandles actively resisted arrest and assaulted the officer. The officer engaged in a physical struggle with Sandles on the shoulder of Interstate 45 Southbound while traffic continued to flow at highway speeds, creating an extremely dangerous situation. Additional officers quickly arrived to assist, and Sandles was ultimately subdued with a Taser and taken into custody without further incident.
